It’s leaking along the entire area where the stiff rubber material of the window frame meets the metal of the opening.

I actually don’t mind replacing it because the window has a few deep scratches. And I was hoping it’s possible to just replace with one without a track (1 piece glass).

Yeah 1pc is easy peasy. But you could also find a nice donor from a junkyard too, I’m sure. I think $115 was the last dollar amount I saw for one on here, power, with the motor and window assembly.

How hard is it to convert the manual slider to the powered slider? I have the interior taken apart so wondering if it’s worth it since the window needs to be popped out anyway.

Also, do you know where I can find a gasket for the 3rd brake light? Not the lense gasket but the foam one that sits between the cab and the brake light housing itself.

This is the one I used LINK but it appears not available from Amazon any more. From the factory it may just be RTV or similar. Mine was just some nasty goop. I honestly don't think mine was actually causing my leak.

Yeah, I saw that one right before you posted. I’m wondering if I could just use some 3m automotive foam tape as the gasket, although I don’t feel comfortable using the old housing if I do that because that thing will certainly break if I try to remove again.

Do you know if the new OEM housings come with the gasket attached or are they included?

I'm not sure. I reused mine. @shifty` ordered a new one I think. @Tundra2 did at one point as well.

I ordered a new 3rd stop light from Toyota and replaced it on the silver truck. It came with a new gasket. It's in the build thread

I just left my housing in place and sealed it with FIPG. Only on the top 3/4, so water could drain out if needed. Whatever sealing material that it came with looked super dried up and crusty.

I'd recommend doing a smoother tape job. I can't notice it standing next to the truck, but I know it's there and it bugs me.

Well it looks like I'm about to go down this rabbit hole. When it snowed a little while back I saw a couple water drops on the cover to the driver side in cab fuse box. Last night when I went out to the truck I had water in the driver side floor after we got a lot of rain recently and there was more water on the fuse box cover.
    20250123_175612.jpg

Windshield is original so it looks like I need to focus on the area where the A-pillar outside trim is. I've watched the very helpful video that @shifty` had linked and it seems straightforward. Only thing I worry about is having to drill out the phillips screws if they won't come out. I'll also have to get a hold of new clips or maybe I can just cover them with the tape that Hand Model used. Need to find a PN for those. Any tips or tricks of anyone that has done this is appreciated.

I do, only thing I'm worried about is it being so close to the windshield using it, but it might be the only option

I mean, hit it with penetrant now. But given you're not in a super-salty area, let's hope it's not the case.

    Anyway, take pics!

The screw heads don't look terrible so hoping for the best. Feeling a bit under the weather this weekend so gonna have to wait a little while. If I don't get to it in the next week or two I'll have to park it in the garage.

Taking a look at this today. Nothing super obvious after pulling inside A-Pillar trim. My "rain gutter" on the driver door looks pretty beat up but it always has so I'm not sure it has anything to do with it.

I've pulled the lower dash out of the truck to try and pin-point where the water is coming in at. I have seen nothing obvious so far. Supposed to have some rain the next few days so I'm hoping to get out and look under the dash after the rain to try and see if I can see a water path to know my best course of action. I'm trying to keep from pulling the outer A-pillar trim if it isn't necessary so I'd really like to visually confirm the leak point first if possible.

That may actually be the source of your leak. That's about what PHM's (RIP in peace) looked like and he had a leak inward. If you want to know for sure, you could try taking clear packing tape and taping that joker shut. But if you ever try to take the tape off, it's ripping that seal to bits.

This may be where my rear leak is coming from. Its very little but it is on both sides. LINK
This was the only post in the rebuild thread I could find relating to that seal. I'm not opposed to replacing that seal (I probably need both sides) but I figure it's probably pretty expensive if you can still buy it new. Need to take a look..

Hi guys, newish member here. I've been doing other repairs but noticed that the driver side floor was wet after a rainstorm. I dried it up and was going to address it later but we had another storm last night. I went out to see if I could see any interior leaks and saw it was dripping down from the little sunglasses compartment! I've read the entire thread but not the video yet. Any idea where the water would be getting to this area from???:fingerscrossed:

I think that is identical to @Jack McCarthy 's leak https://www.tundras.com/threads/wha...-gen-tundra-today.2558/page-2368#post-3934828

    Didn't watch the video eh?

6m28 secs, he covers leaks thru the sunglass holder. If you get clear packing tape and lay it over the top of the windshield, so at least an inch is on the paint and at least an inch is on the windshield. And at 10m10 he covers the 3rd brake light.

It's going to be one of those two things, chances are. If you park nose-up, it's probably the windshield. If you park nose-down, it could be either. He also shows you how to remove most all of the trims associated with each leak/spot, like the side window covers, the top windshield seam cover, etc.

Waterhose test, while parked exactly where you were when the leak happened, starting by letting the hose run water onto the 3rd brake light for 2-3 minutes and seeing if it drips at the sunglass holder within 5 minutes after you stop may reveal it. Otherwise, wait a full day, put the hose top-center of the windshield frame for 2-3 minutes and see if it drips.

But like I said before, one way to isolate things also is to use packing tape. TAKING CARE TO NOT USE a highly aggressive tape like duct tape - I prefer the goldish-clear thin packing tape that comes off boxes way too easy - and when you remove the tape, don't rip your paint off with it, go slowly, and maybe use a blow dryer to heat it up.

Places to put the tape - see the blue boxes below - you want to fully cover the seams of the spot you want to rule out as the leak source. Like so. If the tape totally covers the area, to the point water cannot get into that joint anymore, and the leaking suddenly stops totally, that seam is your leak source.

But seriously. Go watch that f'n video. But rewind it to the start, since I have it auto-jumping to the cowl fasteners.

    PS -

Look at the bottom driver side corner of your windshield. Does it say it's TOYOTA glass, or another brand like Pilkington or Fuyao?

If it's not Toyota, it's been replaced, and it may not have been installed correctly.

Sooo... Tundra Forum Fail. I failed to mention that I had the windshield replaced right after I got the truck home. After work today I taped up the 3rd brake light and hosed the truck mainly on the windshield and it was leaking pretty good. Called the owner of the local small shop that did it and once it's running and I can move it to a better spot on the driveway they'll come reinstall it. Hopefully it is resolved after that happens.

    Thanks Tundra Team

    Yeah. They fucked up.

When they're replacing the windshield, you may want to do what @Professional Hand Model did, and lay a piece of butyl ProtectoWrap over the fasteners on the side trim: https://www.tundras.com/threads/the...ld’-a-chronological-story.46816/#post-1210455
