Found these 2 mysteriously hanging out in my undercarriage. Any idea where they’ve come from?

Found the hose clamp on the right side of the truck in the little “pan” where the sway bar end link is attached to. The nut was hanging out in the bottom of my bumper/fender/wheel well, also on the right side of the truck.

I looked everywhere all over, up & down, left & right and I can’t find anything missing or loose. Does anybody have any idea where this specific nut and hose clamp could of come from?

That nut looks a lot like an upper intake manifold hold down nut that goes on the studs. One on every corner

I'm guessing they go inside the oil pan. Remove the engine oil fill cap and toss them in. They'll eventually find their way back home.

Sweet, easy way to not have to worry about it anymore. Im guessing i should unplug the battery before doing this that way the engine will “relearn” itself and be able to set the hardware in the correct spot?

I just had a bright idea. Im going to go to the hardware store and buy a pack of assorted nuts and bolts and throws those along in there, there could be other hardware missing that I don’t know about.

If you looked all over and all your hoses are okay then the hose clamps may have been replaced with a different one. Just throw it in your bin of spare hose clamps.

There is always left over parts after you finish a wrenching job on a vehicle. Its funny how they always run without the extra parts. Its almost like the manufacturers add extra shit that you dont need for absolutely no reason.

Great idea! Soon you’ll be able to do oil changes with less oil and save money!

Did you have some work done recently? Could be the mechanic or person left them there meaning to get them when the job was done.
Could have also been left there by the previous owner if your vehicle is used. Or if it's new, could be from the factory or dealer.

That would be a great way to clean up all that cake you found in the top-end. Nothing gets metal nice and shiny again like bead blastic with metal bits.

Absolutely. I had a bolt left over in the door cupholder after a dealer visit. They also didn't tighten down air intake. After visiting another place, my other car was left with one less bolts holding down engine air filter.

Engineers add on few extra parts, so the vehicle still holds together after a few dealer visits.

I had this, after my alternator caught fire around 66,666 miles. Had to leave town the next day, left it with my nearby "trusted" shop.

Not only did they install the wrong alternator (100a instead of 130a), they failed to reinstall the splash apron that snaps in front of the strut tower, and they lost the bolt that holds the alternator wiring harness bracket to the alternator. I ended up having to buy a new apron and fasteners, track down the bolt for that bracket, and eventually install the correct Denso 130A alternator. Needless to say, I haven't been back there. I primarily used them with my wife's car, with stuff I didn't feel like doing. Solid shop. But was super disappointed in the work. At least they used legit Denso parts as requested, so I was able to resell the alternator to another member on the cheap to help them out.

Your stock alternator should have a part number sticker on it. That part number will tell you which alternator you have.

You don't have your year / cab type / engine / 2wd-4wd info in the 'Vehicle One Line Description' saved into your profile HERE, so I can't give more details on what you should potentially have and what's compatible.

Basically, the power plug between early years was different (4-square) than later years and the early years used lower amperage options. In later years the plug was updated (4-flat or 4-oval, IIRC) and higher amperages were available. You can swap any higher-amp alternator you want, in any year. The later-year alternators will even fit in the earlier-year trucks if you re-pin the wiring from the square connector into a flat OEM connector, and potentially grind one down spot on the alternator housing.

Typically speaking, later years, if you had the tow package (like I do), the trucks came with the 130a alternator. In the later-year Tundras, you can also swap (direct bolt-up, plug and play) the 150A alternator from the Sequoia. But IIRC the main fuse on the Tundra is 140A, so if you're really pushing that 130A alternator to its peak output threshold for more than a few seconds, you'd probably want to update the main fuse? I'm not an EE so I'm not 100% sure.

More info on interchange is here: https://www.tundras.com/threads/04-sequoia’s-150-amp-alternator-swap-on-a-00-tundra-the-3-big-upgrades.67222/

PS - once you go into that "HERE" profile link above, update your Vehicle One Line Description then click the "SAVE" button at the bottom of the profile page, your truck info will show up in this blue box under your picture. It's super helpful to update that info so we don't need to worry if we're giving you advice that pertains to your exact year/make/model/cab/engine/drivetrain.
