What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

I don’t know man. Decent work there I guess, but I don’t see no feather duster.

 

I’m not done….. my hose does have a feather pattern……

 

Acceptable as long as appropriate hand yoga was utilized.

 

Not pictured was feather dusting the block drain bolt, with a wire brush, and then blasted a can of parts cleaner down its home to clean out the threads, some beginner hand yoga was needed to get the bolt back in without pre stretching

 

My rear brakes needed to be adjusted, so I applied the parking brake a bunch of times today. Really cranked down on the pedal, and snapped the cable.

Not very annoyed with the broken cable as it’s rusty and I assumed it would happen at some point. Actually have a new one at home.

That said- the brakes still need to be adjusted. Does anyone know which direction to turn the adjuster, and how many clicks I should do? I don’t have a means of jacking up the rear axle here at school. Also would like to minimize the amount of time spent laying on the ground in the cold.

 

Will be difficult to dial in without getting the tires off the ground. But when you pull the plug on the brake shield, you’re prying the star wheel from bottom to top, so grab the low side and crank it upwards. Flathead screwdriver works fine. Without lifting the wheels up, you won’t know if you’ve gotten to the point of barely dragging.

 

I only use my parking brake when jacking up the truck or parking on steep grades off-road. I drive off with it still set more often than I'd like to admit. I blame the trail sodas.

 

I use my parking brake every time I park in every vehicle.

 

Hmm. Might have to wait then. Do you think I could do say, 3 clicks, drive it, and see how it feels? Maybe do 3 more if it feels like it needs it?

 

Generally when mine are out of adjustment it takes about 5-8 clicks minimum. 3 at a time would be safe.

 

I'll never understand it. Why do people that live in extremely cold climates complain about the snow. "I can't drive my sports car, I have to shovel my driveway, I have to scrape my windshield daily." Like why do they live there if they hate their lives 3-4 months out of the year? Why not move to a warmer climate? I'll never comprehend.

 

I mean, I hate the summer in Texas unless I'm on the water or the AC. So I guess it's kinda the same same but different

If I’m not mistaken, (and i could be, it’s been a minute) I think both sides adjust in opposite directions, as the star adjuster is not side-specific and neither are reversed threads. No?

With both wheels off ground I just pull the wheel and drum then can adjust easier from the inside and get senstive feel of the drum drag on the shoes. Also can clean out dust accummulation etc. Then rotate tires and done.

 

I believe it's mostly like four 168 bulbs and a 94. These in my 03 are from superbrightLEDs.com

That grill and wheel choice really made your truck look better too, IMO. Gotta get those TRD caps in there!

 

For the denso and koyo rad on RA. Part numbers are one off and pics look like the hoses are opposite.

 

Bottom to top expands the adjuster bracket. Doesn’t matter if it’s facing left to right, or right to left. They adjust same direction on both sides.

Because this is where my family, my career, my friends and my life is. lol I love winter for the first 2 months of it but about this time is when it gets old and I'm ready for the warm up. Then I’ll complain when it’s been 90 degrees and no clouds for 3 months this summer.

I'm always afraid to put the cap on the funnel when I'm bleeding it in fear that it'll build pressure. I guess if you leave it open just a bit, it'll keep it from spraying fluid out as it splashes around. Good idea, I'll have to try it next time.

What's your determining factor for knowing when yours need to be adjusted?

 

Yeah the lid was loosely setting on the funnel
