One would think and the window stickers on the 19-20 models lead you to believe you did but that isn't the case.

Appreciate the post. I bought mine used at a Nissan dealer, so no Toyota window sticker, and their window sticker says nothing about it, but there are other inaccuracies as well. $1300 is about the going rate on a good oil cooler? I like the fact they use Toyota plumbing. Have you installed this system yourself?

I have not, still debating if I want to or not. If I do install a cooler for the transmission I'll likely go the DIY route https://www.tundras.com/threads/diy-trans-cooler-for-300.146998/

You're paying for the convenience of an assembled ready to install kit. Nothing wrong with it, I just don't feel like spending that much. You can piece the same kit together for less, not that it's any less of a finished product. What gets some people is needing a bracket to mount the cooler, the kit comes with one made for the supplied cooler. I do design work at a machine shop, I feel pretty comfortable I can design a bracket for a cooler and make it. I did just that when I bought my boat, I designed and made all the plates/brackets/mounts for the screens I placed at the bow and console out of 1/4" aluminum.

Ouch, $1300 nowadays? That kit was $900 when I bought it in July 2021.

Most things that were $900 in 2021 are $1300 today.

Just for personal decision on whether or not to get a cooler and for people in the future to have a collected thread, haven’t seen a survey anywhere, so started one.

Dealer performed 2 evil tranny flushes and it still shifts as new. I’ll continue trans fluid flushes every 40Kish.

    There’s a guy on Reddit with a 2019 Tundra
Considering adding the 900,000 mile 2019 tundra from Reddit to the leaderboard. It went 500k miles on the first transmission.

Cooler has been installed. Tranny stays around 185 when not towing, even when going up Mt. passes. Towing a small trailer with my side by side it catches a lot of air and it stays around 185 until I climb a pass, then it may spike to 190-195, but drops quickly to 185. So far so good. Real test is this summer in hot weather, towing 5k and then using some 4WD hi goofing off in the desert, but I expect it to stay cool doing both. Very happy so far.

Assuming by goofing off you mean blasting around the sand at speed but if not you should use 4-lo in the sand, it keeps the transmission much cooler. A couple of the times people on here have seen the high temp light come on on these forums is people using 4-hi crawling around the beach.

No sand, blasting around the desert in 4 hi is going to happen. One of the reasons I put the cooler in. Even just driving around on BLM two tracks in 4 hi it would get too hot. 4 lo won’t go past 4th and is too slow. My hope is the cooler makes 4 hi viable for this, like it was in all my other rigs.

Though I agree, I think some of those posts were people who didn't have a cooler.
