Tundra grille - how to get what you want

I just bought a 2020 Sequoia TRD Pro and I am very curious if a 2020 Tundra TRD Pro hood bulge and even the hood will fit my new Sequoia?

 

It won't be a straight swap over. You'd basically have to change everything from the back of the hood forward to do that kind of swap (hood, fenders, bumper, grille, etc.)

I have a 2020 limited that has the Toyota sensor in the grill emblem but grill, surround and bulge are all chrome and I need them all to be black.
I need all three items in black but the main thing is the grill has to be the type with the Toyota emblem in the center because I ordered a DeMello Baja hoop bumper so the sensor will only work in its factory location.

Pay close attention to the front emblem thread I have posted. You will need to determine which emblem you have before placing an order for a new grille.

 

@Roman, if I change from 2018 limited grill to a platinum grill do I use the Toyota emblem from my current grill
On the new platinum grill.

Yes, the sensor will unbolt from the back of your grille and bolt to the new one.

Hey @Roman, resurrecting an old thread with a new question. I have a 2014 Platinum. I am looking to change my grille insert only to a black honeycomb and keep my existing bulge and surround. Can I buy an insert by itself and swap? Or do I need a full grille assembly and then swap the inserts myself? I have been reading about an emblem needed as well but am confused as I would assume the insert would come with a new emblem?

 

2016 white Tundra XSP-X on the way, courtesy of carmax. From what I understand, the XSP-X has a billet grille. Love the black grille, but not a fan of the chrome surround and hood bulge. Will be looking to change out the chrome for white. Will be interesting to see how Toyota mounted the billet grille to the surround.

 

So say I have a 2021 sr5 tundra cement with chrome hood bulge and chrome surround. I want to keep the grille insert, but I want to have the hood bulge and the grille surround cement color. Technically I can just order the cement hood bulge, order a 2017 trd pro grille that comes with the cement grille surround. Just swap the grille inserts correct? Basically what I’m asking is do the 2018+ grille inserts fit into the 2017 grille surround?

 

Yes, it fits directly.

 

This is exactly what I did on my limited with no issues. Take your time swapping the inserts and use heat.
Here are the part numbers I used.

Super old post I know but I tried my best to read through for what I need to know.

May be a known thing, but will a 2018-2020 surround (w/ Pro grille insert) fit on my 2015? I am hoping the only difference to deal with is the lack of sensor? Are the dimensions all the same and will it snap right in? I want the TOYOTA emblem in 218 paint code. About to purchase but I need to make sure it will fit no issue….

My new to me 2020 Limited DC has a chrome grill, bulge and surround. I want to keep the Limited grill in chrome. Just the outside area - the bulge and surround in white.

so In 2020 what color code ? is the white ?
Is the bulge and surround available to buy in that correct white ?

who sells them and I'll remove mine and replace the outside area to white

Don't know what year you have or trim level, I remember Roman saying that they changed the TSS sensor and it may not fit certain grilles. Do a search of his posts and you will see the difference. If yours is prior to 2018 then you don't have to worry since you don't have the TSS sensor.

so I have a chrome smc grill. I just want a white top hood bulge and surround . I'll swap my center to this surround. I'm keeping all my stock chrome center & sensor grille center.

The grille and surround do not come separately.

 

my local toyota dealer says they do.

some ebay sites sell them that way as i looked today....

That Doesn't matter....... I'll swap out my chrome center to the White surround

Aftermarket knockoff do have some that come separately. OEM surrounds/grilles do not come separately from any dealership.
