I've driven exactly two first gen Tundras in my life. The second one I bought. Both had no "D" light. First guy said it burnt out within the first year he owned it.

Must be a common thing. I just know that if I don't see any light, I'm in Drive!

That truck has a lot of potential.

Makes sense. For one, it's halogen. But more than that, it's also the gear indication that's lit for probably 95% of all driving.

I would do that, but i’m too lazy to get back into the cluster.

It's one of the easier clusters to deal with, it's only a couple of bolts. Honestly, not bad at all.

My grandpa took off the cover that goes over this, the 4.7L V8 ‘plaque’ nearly a decade and a half ago, and one of the connecting ends for it. Could anybody show me where the piece for it to latch back onto is at? Just need a general idea because i have no clue and i’m having no luck with searching. IMG_0388.jpg

No need to pull off the spacers until you've got the money for a suspension upgrade; especially if you've paid for an alignment after install (assuming you're sticking to normal daily driving).

Just watch your axle boots; I suspect they'll split on you.

And to your pic I'd add: You specifically need a pic from an '00-'04, because the '05+ VVTi engines with the black intake have the brackets in diff't places apparently.

How did you like that top end cleaner? I would say it was ok, did some cleaning... had her mosquito fogging the neighborhood at least.

I did it by the book, per Seafoam's weird video with a GM/Vortec, the guy is covered in flies thru the whole thing, including wedging a 2x between the seat and pedal to hold RPM where they want it. It was a pain in the ass to keep shaking the can without having the straw come loose. Then hotsoaked, but I couldn't take it for a drive so I had to just idle it at a 1500rpm on/off after hotsoaking.

But you know how it goes, after anything like this you swear it feels peppier, faster off the line, etc. I did notice my next fillup showed 0.4mpg improvement from the last which is probably 0.5mpg in reality given oversized tires. Clearly it was burning out a fair amount of stuff. I may end up doing another, it's not like it's gonna hurt anything. But I'll wait for another day.

I doubt this is any different than using a vacuum hose to sip out out of (not dunk straw into until the engine chokes) a can of regular Seafoam. I think it's only "top end" cleaner because it includes the TB straw.

Oh and someone on here suggested they may be getting rid of the straw or something, and to save it? But I dunno how valid that is.

You'll likely need to go to a junkyard to get that bracket. I'm pretty sure it's discontinued. I just replaced that exact bracket with one from the pick-n-pull since the bolt on mine broke:

I noticed here that the hose clamp hole is in the wrong spot. There is a little "pin" that the hole should go in. Probably not causing any issues at all, but it's the little things you'll start noticing.

Also, how are your fuel injectors? Imagine after sitting for a while they could use a good clean or at least some BG44K run through them. Was there fuel sitting in the truck for 8 years too?

Now could be a good time to go through the intake manifold and refresh the gaskets, cleaning up all the oil deposits in the upper manifold, throttle body cleaning from the front and back, etc.

It’s all good, i did that coming up on a year ago, one of the first things i did. Runs like it never even happened.
