I'll see how it rides/lasts. It's already F'ed up because the cab is smashed down 1/2" there, if you look you can see where I had to "modify" the top to get to the 10mm for dash panel removal. She's haggard
10.2mpg on recent fill up. I add the 3.7% to calibrate for the 265s. Weird that going UP a size makes mileage go down, you'd think it would be higher, or even a wash if you consider rolling resistance maybe?
But logically you get more revolutions per engine RPM. Do you know the science behind that @shifty` ?

Funny you should say that, actually used the largest machine I’ve ever used to load them at the quarry, a Case 240 excavator (24ton). Ironically I unloaded them with the smallest machine I’ve ever used (my excavator) a Bobcat 323 (1.6ton), it couldn’t lift them but it could pull them around.
I can flip one of them by hand…

"Going from 265/65r17 -> 275/70r17 leads to +5.2% difference, i.e. 1 mile with stock tire is 1.052 miles on the new larger tires. My last fill-up was a 201mi trip. 201x1.052 = 211.452 actual miles? So my calculation, I actually went more miles but reported less, so I'm getting mpg figures based on 5% less actual miles traveled. My MPG numbers should be lower, I believe?"

But let's be real - my original tire was 37lb weight. The new Mickeys are 55lb, almost 70% heavier, if my maths are right? And I'm sure the new wheels are probably heavier also, so basically roughly doubling my rotational weight going from road tire to AT and a couple sizes up. I should be in the shitter MPG-wise right now.

But yeah, city driving, without correction (and yellowbox isn't really an option for the VVTi trucks in 1GT), I'm struggling to get in the 10s for mpg right now. Before the tire/wheel change I was consistently 12s with mostly city driving. I wish I could easily correct w/yellowbox or similar.

It's on the list of things to do while I'm on my paid permanent-work-leave. But it's got a few things ahead of it. Gotta deal with a recall, new tires and alignment on the '20 Highlander. Need to get around to pulling whatever shit brake pads the PO had installed on the truck, the screeching is driving me f'n nuts. Been waiting for temps to warm up so I can glue the hairline crack in the lip of the cap, and refinish that section before I take it in for paint. I think I'll lift the cap and inject glue from underneath to flow it thru the crack, then sand down and use some touch-up spray on it.

My to-do list is long right now! While the cap is out, I think I'll probably do some small touch-up stuff on tie-downs, mulch the yard, pull the liner and wax the bed, prep my wiring for permanent power to the rear and lighting in the cap.

 

Tape reverse side, sprinkle baking soda into crack, dribble some super glue (not the gel type) on the baking soda, remove tape, sand

 

I already have some Thixo (382660) to seal it up. Reco from one of Dad's friends who rehabs bass boats. I showed him pics of the back side, he said it looked like most of the fibers are still intact over the crack, best bet was just to straight-up inject it from the rear until it oozes out of the front, then clean up most of the excess and lay some tape over the painted side to help the Thixo lay flat for easier finishing later.

What, for the Thixo? Dude got me a tube for $18. Parents delivered it a couple weeks back when they came to grab some furniture.

Finally got my wheels and tires put on. Love the way they look. Went with 265/70r17 Mickey Thompson Baja boss tires. Got a good deal on them and they ride well. Have 5100’s coming in two weeks so can’t wait to get those on too. Only problem is one of the wheel studs broke so I have to get that taken care of soon.

for only being 1" larger than my 265/70r16. You set up looks massive compared to my stock set up. The 34's are gonna look ridiculous in my truck. Lol

 

Mine is a 2wd with worn out springs and shocks maybe they will look a little smaller once I get the 5100’s mounted up.

 

Sorry for the late reply, I was out of town the last 2 weeks on a roadtrip. After 5000+ miles put on them, I can say they're great so far and the only annoyance was squeaky/creaky friction pads that occurred after a coating of fluidfilm. They ride firm and keep the truck planted confidently on pavement. There were some spots on my trip (namely I80 in eastern Iowa, and SH-93 near Obsidian, Idaho) that made the rear end bounce like mad, but I'm gonna blame the road there.
I don't really go "offroading" (unless you count USFS / BLM roads that might be kind of rutted out, but I slow down for that stuff anyway). That said, I will be upgrading the stock struts this spring to Bilstein 5100s with OME springs to improve the ride a bit more.

not going to lie the 265’s on this thing with these rims poke more than I thought, especially in the rear. I get a tiny bit of rub at full lock on the front mudflap but that’s it

 

At ~31.6" you're right at the cusp of having to lift to clearance easily. It also would depend on the dimensions of your wheels. What are they?
