Like the big dumb grill on the new Tundra that fuglifies it? Yes. Those do suck. Now if they put the new Sequioa front end on the new Tundras, they would look great. Current grill, not so much.

My daily @ work is a 14/F250 2wd. It needed service yesterday, so my partner and I grabbed a 22 F250 4x4 from the fleet. I'm 6'3", the high part of the window sill is at my shoulders! Why?
I feel for you smaller people climbing in and out if those things.

When I replaced my rack last year it felt and acted just like this. Fortunately, it lasted about 3 weeks and then began to “loosen” up. That’s about the same time the power steering pump developed a whine. I found the reservoir low on fluid. Topped it off and it’s been great for the last 6 months. Because the issue never developed further, I never looked into it. I simply chalked it up to being that the rack wasn’t bled properly at install and it took that time for the fluid to push all of the air out and up into the reservoir.

Did someone forget to remove a plastic plug when installing the rack? Stupid question, I know.

I'm gonna write a novel like Shifty here.

Suspension is one of those examples where buy once, cry once is very accurate. You already invested a bunch of money in your current set up and now you're talking about ripping it off. You also have to ask how much you're really gonna be off-pavement. If you're talking once per year, I'm not sure it makes since to drop another $2,500 on suspension. That's the main reason I haven't sold my Icon's. My truck is never going to be a rock crawler. I'm fine with their pavement performance. It's only off-road that they abuse me. When it's time to rebuild them I'll make a decision on doing that or selling them and buying something else. It will depend on how my wallet feels at that time.

Add-a-leafs are another regret of mine. It's a bandaid solution. Our 20+ year old leaf springs are worn out. I wish I had ordered Archive Garage leaf springs back in 2019.

Lastly, I'm just not convinced there is a mid travel set up for these trucks that doesn't compromise somewhere. Unless you go full long-travel there will be limitations to what are trucks can do comfortably.

If you're just going to ride trails with bros once a year in Sedona I'd consider accepting the Toytech solution for what it is. If not, do it right and shell out some serious cash for new leaf packs, coil overs, rear shocks and bump stops. If you throw ICON's and AAL's on it, you're not going to be impressed.

Well said. But, I do have an off road park in my backyard that's about to get more of my attention. That's why I'm looking at upgrading. I'm gonna get by on these toys for awhile longer while I stack funds for the upgrades. I've got some research to do.

Yeah, that's weird and neither looks right. But then again, even Eibach's page has been updated to show a different arm under that part number, so who knows.

Note even on Eibach's page, they say "forged and tubular steel design". You see any tubular steel here, or any poly bushings? Right, IOW, their stock photo is wrong. This entire part in the picture is forged steel.

Clearly it's still slotted, but Eibach's photos aren't accurate to the description. And I personally bought this EXACT kit, it was SPC.

These trucks just dont have the travel of the newer chassis’s. Most people want unrealistic bypass level performance at a 1/3 of the price. I have Fox 2.5 in the front and they’re decent, but no resi or adjusters and I not happy with them at all. For the average guy absolutely these things will be great, but I’ve been where the grass is greener. I never will talk someone out of good suspension cause you can literally feel the difference every day.

I stopped telling people to consider on vs off road miles. Buy the stuff that will get the truck to drive how you want. Cause if you cheap out the 90% on road will be fine but the 10% off-road will kill you and cause you to buy twice. I comfortably picked up 30Mph on some fire / washboard roads with a different shock package. Hell my wife even fell asleep. Would I consider the off-roading I want to do more hardcore than most guys absolutely, but will the purchase be worth it? you bet it is.

Getting caught up and seeing som UCA talk. When the hell did SPC start charging 800 for their arms?! SPC’s were the go to 7-8 years ago cause you could get them brand new for 450-500. For that price spend the extra money and get a tubular arm with a sealed ball joint or my personal favorite total chaos. For that much go JBA for the same level of serviceability for less.

There's a baby U-joint on the steering shaft right under the carpet that can get stiff. Try spraying it with PB blaster and if it gets easier, then that needs to be replaced.

What are you trying to improve with the current set up? I have the same totyec shocks as you and I hate them on road, way too softly valved, but offroad they are fine (not great, just fine). Between my two tundras and sequoia, I've tried OME, toytec, dobinson and eibach. I was happiest with the OME ride quality. If I were to really upgrade, I'd go fox. I personally hate fox as a company and think they are arrogant pricks, but have heard kings don't withstand corrosion as well as fox.

I think the 1st gen platform is great for "normal" off-roading but if I was going for more than that, I'd get a more dedicated offroader. For close to the cost to go full long travel you can get a built 4runner or an XJ.
