MEVOTECH UCA'S Same as SPC

Fwiw, bought these from Partsgeek several months ago. One arrived missing hardware, replacement was golden. Both matching greasable on the truck without too much trouble. Good luck!!

 

Partsgeek doesn't show that they're sold on the site anymore. Rockauto only shows 1 side...

CMS861202 and CMS861203 seems to be the newer parts number? What about CMS861201? Can someone confirm? I'm looking to purchase it if I can find somewhere that'll have the left in stock...

 

Guess I got lucky! It was a limited inventory because SPC changed the ball joints in the kits.

I got both sides .. there were 3 in stock for one side, only said 1 in stock for the other. SPC logo on the control arms and both are the greasable updated ball joints also engraved SPC

this happened to me for a while. Don’t trust that their stock alert will let you know either as they never did .. I saw it go in and out of stock a few times before I pulled the trigger this previous time

Thought I'd add into this thread, since this is roughly the same price as Mevotech (maybe cheaper) and no issues of only-L/only-R in stock, as seems to be the case now with RockAuto. Maybe someone stumbles on this reply later like I did a couple months ago and realizes they can save $400+.

Now SPCs upped in price yet again, well into the $900s, I was hungry for another option. For 1st Gen folks, I just picked up Eibach's 5.25485K kit and it appears straight-up exactly what SPC now sells at $950 MSRP. Same silver greasable balljoint, not the older gold one Mevotech shows, and even what Eibach shows at their site.

I got out the door @ $484 / $525 shipped from this Veteran-owned/operated business (Elite Race Fab) that treated me right on everything. Current price is +$30 at $514 for the pair, which is still a steal!!:

Pics of what I got - straight-up SPC bushing, SPC arm, SPC grey greaseable balljoint, packed in an Eibach box. All cardboard and literature inside matches the SPCs I bought 4-5 months ago. IDENTICAL. %40 less.

I personally trust Eibach after a couple decades of using their stuff. I don't know Mevotech from a hole in the wall, but see they resell some real garbage, like ISC's stuff out of Turkey. So I felt a lot more confident knowing what support and service I'd get out of buying the Eibach rebranded stuff.

I don't think $950 for some UCAs like this is fair pricing. I do think <$600 or maybe <$700 OTD is definitely fair. I'm wondering if SPC keeps hiking rates in an effort to bid their way out of the direct-to-consumer market, push that business off onto other brands?

 

@shifty` mine are like yours .. the updated silver .. yes the box shows the old gold anodized, but the product was definitely the newer bushing and both came that way right from the get go

 

Welp, I guess that settles it once and for all for 1st Gen folks.

Eibach's 5.25485K kit is identical to the current SPC offering.
Mevotech CMS861202 + CMS861203 are also identical to the current SPC offering.

From my eyes, looking at the castings which seem identically embossed/stamped, balljoints are both basically the same color/greaseable, tubing is same diameter, same welds ...

Eibach is selling theirs as a pair, you get both at once and save 35-40% off SPC pricing, it comes with both arms, bushings, and BJs.

If you can actually find both of the Mevotech in stock somewhere, I guess someone could buy two separate boxes, save 10-25% less than Eibach's pricing, and about 55% less than SPC's pricing that way.

 

When you got to that eibach link on Amazon is says it’s coming from china…. Looks like they may just be an spc knockoff as spc is out of Longmont Colorado. This was covered in another thread but mevotech is just a company in Canada that is spc’s largest customer who then rebrands and sells under the mevotech Canada name to retailers like rock auto. It’s like the discount stores that buy old stock from dillards and sell for a discount.

 

No, it's because scAmazon is loaded with counterfeits, and you should never buy on there.

I didn't link that post - the forum auto-links anything that matches with a product on scAmazon.

EDIT: Good to go now. It shouldn't link to scAmazon anymore, just to the Eibach website. Be sure to never buy auto parts, appliance parts, small engine parts on scAmazon folks. Myself, too many people here on Tundras.com, and far too many folks at other forums have gotten burned buying counterfeit parts on there. We don't call it "scAmazon" for no reason. They do jack shit (within reason) to prevent counterfeits and grey market product from entering their supply chain/warehousing.

Could be a good time to buy if you've been on the fence. Half the price of what SPC is charging for the same damn thing. They shipped mine out quick, great buying experience.

 

Not to revive a dead thread but it’s still relevant I’d say. It would appear SPC’s are also being rebranded as Dorman and sold on RockAuto. I wanted to buy the Mevotech (SPCs) but found they only had the right side in stock (CMS861202) for $225 and no lefts. Looking closer I then saw a Dorman 528111 left side, listed for $205 and looked at it more closely and it too appears to be an SPC (zoomed in on part and patent numbers). I ordered them so I guess we will see what shows up, but based on pictures one may have the greasable joint and the other non greasable but who’s to say the stock photos are 100% accurate. No big deal either way. I can report back when they arrive.

I also found the energy suspension poly steering rack bushings on there for $60 which seemed like a good price so ordered those too. RockAuto is awesome.

 

Keep us posted, I'm in the market for UCA's as well once I upgrade my coil overs. Wouldn't mind saving a few bucks on some SPC's.

 

Already got them today and ordered yesterday. Both the Dorman and Mevotech are clear as day SPC. Both are marked as such on the UCAs and Ball joints. Both have greasable ball joints. Sweet deal.

Yup! The “dorman” ones were better packaged than the “Mevotech”. I paid 225 for the Mevotech and 205 for the Dorman yesterday. Also google a discount code.

Can confirm. I ordered both the Dorman UCA’s from rock auto and they are both SPC’s with greasable ball joints. heck of a deal.

You could try Inputting all of the different years of the first gens to see if they show up for other years. Sounds like the RockAuto site is weird like that, despite the parts being the same for multiple years.

 

Did anyone’s Mevotech/dorman Control arms come with grease? I was reading the instruction sheet for them (which also was not in the box) that I found on this forum. It mentions the grease and specifies to use only that kind. Wondering what kind that is and if I can buy some elsewhere.

 

I don't think mine did when I got the Mevotech arms. I just used Lucas Red N Tacky during assembly for the ball joints and the bushings. You really can't go wrong with that.

 

1st Gen update: found them on Summit Racing and just pulled trigger. Will follow up to make sure they're all good to go - zooming in on product showed SPC everything.
