I see those rims are only eight and a half inches wide. Are you getting all that poke with just the rims or are you using spacers? I recently bought my truck and it has 20x12 rims with a negative 44 offset which is a bit much and definitely not the best option for off-roading. I'm looking to go to a 17 or 18 in and much less offset but I still want some poke because of how tall the truck is. Also, how do you like the Mickey's? It seems most people love the new ones, but some people seem to dislike them based off of old quality control issues...

Just in case it’s useful to someone wondering, this is my stock 2012. I grabbed TRD wheels awhile back because I love how they look and snagged a great deal on some factory takeoff 285/65/18 Falken Wildpeak AT3 (if I remember right). They do not rub, thankfully, and look nice and meaty.

Running them at 40 psi and with the topper at 70 mph I averaged 19.8 MPG recently on an all-highway trip which surprised me. I do have the 4.6 though.

I’m getting the poke from the offset and the wider track from the long travel suspension. The mickeys are amazing I won’t run another tire. They’ve been through snow, Baja and daily usage with no issues or flats etc.

What combination did you go with to get down to that weight with 35s? I've found plenty of lightweight wheel options, but I'm having a hard time finding 35" tires under 65-66 pounds...and a lot of them are heavier than that. I'm trying to keep the weight down to.

How do you think the SL tires would hold up to light towing? I plan to haul a smaller bay boat...fully loaded trailer weight is under 5k lbs... closer to 4500.

My 2020 Tundra sport with Fuel Vapor 20x9 +20 offset and 275/60R20 Nitto Ridge Grapplers. Truck has a 3/1 lift bilstein 6112’s up front. Nice combination. Selling wheels and tires if anyone is interested, local pickup on Long Island ,NY. Wheels in great shape no curb rubs , one wheel has two little nicks on lip but not bad , tires have more then half life left but they have some plugs in them asking $1500 or best offer for entire set. I was running 265/75r16 Dick Cepek Trail Country EXPs on some Helo wheels for the past couple years. They seemed to be getting louder and running really rough at higher speeds, so before anything catastrophic happened I began the process of choosing a new tire. The wheels came with the truck when I bought it, and I'm a bit old school in that I much prefer something other than black wheels, so I also began hunting for a change in that department as well.

    Old Setup

After some looking around I came across Aturro Tires, and I really like the looks of their Trail Blade XT. To make a long story short, I bought some Sequoia wheels that needed some TLC for $100, painted them (Rust-Oleum Stainless Steel), and wrapped them up with some 287/70/17 Atturo Trail Blade XTs. They were a little too close to the UCA, so I put a 1" hub-centric spacer on there for peace of mind.

    Priming the wheels

Letting the clear coat cure in the garage

Waiting for lug nuts and spacers

    Finally got'em on the truck

The Atturos are like riding on glass! They are so smooth I can't even begin to explain how happy I am that I made the change, and they are next to silent as well.

I like it. Nostalgic to me. I grew up in the 80s in South Africa and all the Land Cruisers and Hilux came with these white steelies as upgrade options.

What is the biggest spare that a 2nd gen can hold in the factory/under bed location? I'm going to be running 315/70 17s...by the tape measure it looks like it might fit. Not sure if anyone here has tried. Thank you!

I installed a 3/1.5 on my 2017 CM. Eibach Stage 1 2.5 + .5 Toytech spacers in front, 1.5 Toytech shackles in rear. Truck came with 275/60R20 Ridge Grapplers on 20x9 Gear wheels with 35mm offset. Looking to go up in tire size. Considering 285/65R20s or 295/65R20s. Pics? Input?

Open Range 285/75/R18s which are like 34.8'' fit with zero rub. removed the little flap at the front of the wheel well, left the main mud flap.

Edit: I got tired of the rubbing so I trimmed some of the front and back of the wheel well plastic with some lexan scissors.

    17" x 8.5" Method 703 +35, Toyo open country 34"x10.5", 2" front coilover lift, 3/4" rear shackle lift.

Zero trimming or removing of the liners and flaps. Maybe 1/2" clearance on the front air dam at partial turn. Did already have the sides of my skid plate removed, was rubbing the edge at full lock with the lift and stock wheels.

Just about flush to the body. Probably have enough clearance on the uca to go 11.5" wide. The toyo's are amazingly quiet.

315/70 BFG ko2 on 17x8.5 alpha equipt wheels +35 offset. Stock TRD off road suspension, no cmc, lots of front fender rearranging & re-bolting but no bumper spacers. Also removed mud flaps of course. No rubbing even at full lock in reverse and tight U turns in a culdesac. I WILL do my own CMC just for more articulation clearance but for now this is incredible & the C load ko2’s ride like a dream.

Look for the DOT on the inside of the tire. Whoever mounted those put the date code inward.
