I wish I had gone big ball LCA and joint. Dumbass me replaced both with the small balls.

    It's good
The bent axle may have been there and I didn't know it. The noise that was once a revolution was the ring starting to fail. Same noise about 4 times a revolution is the pinion I have since learned. Failing ring gear got me 350 miles toward home before blowing up. So I just rebuilt everything once I got home.

    Ya, 4.88. Possibly a factor I imagine.

The Solo site indicates that their LCAs "lose the function of factory steering stops." What actually happens, say, maneuvering into a tight parking space at full turn, or wheeling downhill through super-tight S-turns in the mountains? Does the steering lock up in some way? Would this damage any of the components? If desired or needed, could you add your own steering stops? Not experienced with this to know. Thanks!

I don't fully understand it myself. But I think the net effect is you can stuff your tires into the frame if you want to, whereas before you'd be blocked from doing that mechanically if on stock tires. Of course sizing up on tires may increase your chances of frame rub anyway.

For me the biggest concern after all this stuff including the SOLO's was that my fox reservoir hoses were taking impact. I had to have help re-clocking those and adjusting the routing so now they aren't in the line of fire at full turn. So I think I can rub the frame with my 285/75R16's if I crank the wheel all the way, I tend to back off as I go tighter on turn and then adjust if I feel resistance. I can take a look at things and see where I'm rubbing.

A mechanical stop would be nice to have I think, but extracting head from arse and being reasonable works too, you kinda have to try to push the limits of steering.

With all that said, I gotta say, my '05 RC Tacoma can turn so much better than my other two trucks that it _always_ brings a f'ing smile to my face. My wife hates the '05 and I just love it, so stuffable into just about any spot I want to stuff it.

I *think* my '02 Tundra has a slightly improved turn radius with the solos. But it's not "great" just borderline "decent" compared to "somewhat lousy". I could see the appeal of a RCSB FGT but at the same time, the 8' bed is what I love so much so what can you do.

I can’t really find info on running these with the factory upper control arms.

Are they able to get Camber in spec with stock UCA’s. I’m a Camber snob, I like 0*

    I’ve got these 34x11.50’s (285/75R17) to steer.

Camber should be similar to factory. It just pushes the lower ball joint forward.

Right on. Most the builds I’ve seen are running after market UCA’s and seems those builds are getting good Camber and gobs of Caster.

A lot of the aftermarket UCA's have additional caster to compensate for lifting.

    @Casper421 any updates?

I am planning to upgrade suspension soon (6112/5160s) along with UCAs. Just now discovering Solo LCAs. Trying to decide if it’s worth waiting to be able to afford them.

Also anyone have thoughts on Uniballs vs regular? (SPCvs TC)

Do yourself a favor. Read the "Suspension, wheel and tires ..." section of this thread: https://www.tundras.com/threads/so-you-wanna-buy-just-bought-a-1st-gen-tundra-eh.115928/

Bullet #14 will cover this question nicely, I think. It ultimately boils down to maintenance, and adjustability.

Settle in on a budget first and foremost. Then decide your needs, how you honestly intend to use the truck. For what you'd spend on Solo lowers, you could have a pretty sweet suspension lift on the entire vehicle that'll handle 90% of forum members would throw at it.

Casper is sorely missed. Haven't seen him posting for the better part of a year now.
