I don’t have any rubbing issues with my set up. I did pin the inner fender liner back, not necessary though. I have a buddy that has a Westcott 3/1 lift with 20 x 9‘s and his does rub. 35/12.5/20. But His offset is a zero. I think the TRD lift kit is a little bit taller than the Westcott spacer kit.

per a pro tip from @1*MEDIC I bought the Dobinsos rear adjustable Panhard to recenter the rear axel. Dobinsons recommends this for anything over an inch and a half lift.

Looks great. Def trying to find a D range next go around. I have owned Es for years and they are just way too harsh for my needs.

Just to make sure I understand you right you just used the tubing there to lower the skid plate and it fits on the outside of the sway bar well? I also have an RCI engine skid plate and the 3" trd lift on my 23 tundra and would like to have the sway bar inside even if it does look crazy sturdy.

Correct. The tube just shims the skid plate down to make clearance for the sway bar. But I have the icon sway bar drop kit which was only like .75” of sway bar drop. The swag bar drop in the Trd kit is significantly more.

Thanks and I appreciate the detail on the drop it too. That also makes a lot of sense.

So I know this may have been mentioned but I can’t find the info I need. I have the TRD lift with stock TRD wheels and 35/12.5/20 BFG KO2s.

I have a very slight rub on the sway bar on the left when fully locked to the right. I like the stock wheels but I am thinking I may just get aftermarket wheels and sell these wheels.

I was planning on 20x9 +18mm offset. My question is… Should that solve the issue since it’s so minimal of a rub? Also I’m not trying to remove the sway bar just to eliminate the rub.

    Thanks!!!

I am about to pull the plug to get a 2023 capstone. The dealership has the lift kit in stock and I will probably add it on as well. Which foglamps is OP referring to? All of the pics that Ive seen has the foglamps on the grill still showing. Thanks!

Yes, the fog lights located at the bottom of the grille. Most dealers will leave them on. There is information in the install guide stating that because of the height of lift the fog lights could exceed legal height for on road use. It is generally a non-issue, just Toyota legally covering themselves.

Thank you for the info. Just read it on the instructions as well! Is the TRD Skid plate also not compatible? Was going to have them add that on as well before I pick up.

The skid plate has to mount behind sway bar, if you use the relocation bracket. If you don’t you can mount skid plate in front like normal. There are pros and cons to each. Sway bar being relocated will improve articulation and potentially reduce stress in bar ends. Without relocation you have better aesthetics and the sway bar is protected by skid plate as it should be. People are running multiple setups. Sway bar relocated, sway bar not relocated, and sway bar relocated with spacers to drop the skid plate so it is is below sway bar. Shooters choice. I have sway bar in front of skid right now. Doesn’t bother me, but i also don’t have the pretty TRD printed skid just the traditional OR one.

I don't think the Trd lift kit is compatible with capstone, since capstone has avs suspension and air bags , which are not compatible with the Trd lift kit.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong

The AVS is not standard on the Capstone. The one that I'm looking at is just a base suspension. Dealer told me that toyota stopped adding the AVS and airbags due to production limitations going forward.

FYI if you get Trd suspension together with your truck purchase, then it will have a longer warranty.

I forgot... I think it's a 3 years warranty if you buy Trd kit together with your truck, and 1 year warranty if you buy Trd kit after.

Of course make sure you research this thread on the parts price and install price so you can negotiate with the dealer on this Trd kit install. Many purchased parts and install labor at much lower rates than msrp for this Trd kit!

Question, I may not understand and it's been answered. But if I have the TRD skid plate, and I do the kit as standard, meaning the use the skid plate drop that means no effect on suspension travel, correct? only the bar is outside the plate?

Next, if I have them not do the drop and put bar inside the plate, I limit the suspension travel. Can someone tell me how much I am limiting it?

Lastly, If I have them leave it stock without the drop, and want to add one later from icon so somewhere to resolve is it a big deal or simple change that can do at home. and if the bar is outside the plate, is removing the plate sill easy to do?

    Thanks.

    so many questions haha.

    1. Standard is not a skid plate drop. It is a sway bar relocation, so sway bar is outside of skid plate. This will not reduce articulation. It will give you max possible articulation while still maintaining away bar. yes, only sway bar is outside skid. Additional benefit to this, for actual off roaders, is you can remove the sway bar easily and put it back on without removing skid. Ditching the sway bar will give you maximum articulation off road, but not recommended for on road driving.

    2. Not relocating sway bar will limit articulation. Not sure on how much. That would require comparing before and after with both configs. Not sure anyone has done that.

    3. You can still remove plate.

    hope this helps.

Thank you for the knowledge! that method leaves the sway bar behind the skid plate right?

Yeah seems like a major oversight haha. Are there any aftermarket skids that support the spaced sway bar? I think I'd rather keep the geometry as designed. Although its probably negligible stock vs spaced down

Photo of the front of the trail hunter edition tundra. Sway bar also outside. Interesting. I am wondering if it is intentional. A lot of thought went into this build and it is utilizing skids that are designed with the build. I am wondering if the intention is for easy on easy off of sway bar for off roading, as I mentioned in my earlier post.

I ran my taco with no sway bar off road and it was a big difference in front end articulation. It would be very surprising if Toyota “overlooked” this on the trail hunter build.

Personally, I don’t think it is negligible. There is quite a difference in the angle of the bar without the relocation. Toyota engineers are pretty smart. I would assume they know what they are doing.

Agreed. So dumb question how do I mount my sway bar on the outside then? Do I just slide the skid plate between it since it's already dropped with the trd spacers?

@KroppDuster has a great post on the kit with sway bar relocation brackets and trd skidplate, referenced above. It should be as simple as sliding the skid plate behind the bar and mounting it. Let me know if this helps.

Edit: I would also like to say that the likelihood of sway bar damage is extremely low, unless you are wheeling the shit out of your rig. I have ripped mine on some pretty serious trails at our ORV park and had no issues. I also value functionality over aesthetics. No one can really see the skid under the truck unless you lay down to look at it, and the ability to easily remove the sway bar for more articulation off road is pretty great. IMHO.

Who’s got the in for aftermarket front sway bar links because that’s what I really want. I feel my articulation is putting some crazy stress on the bar with the stock links and only the .75” spacers from icon.
I emailed icon a few times for their aftermarket front links but they have no eta on them.
