New to me 2018. Is there a way for the rear seats back portion to fold forward? I can't see anything and would like to utilize the room behind for tools/jumpers/ect

Take them out or fabricate a bracket assembly. I like my Tacoma does it but I just put the back seats up in the tundra and stuff everything up there from the bottom (insert joke)
I also leave the tundra back seats up all the time anyway

Floor storage is best, it keeps the weight (tools) down low where you want it.

Is there no option to cut the upper seat bracket like in the DC?

Nope. The seat back is completely static in the CrewMax.

You could keep an electric 12volt plug impact under the front seat or in the console to make for quick and easy seat removal and installation. Not saying it's a great idea, but certainly a possibility. Depends on how often you want access. Lots of possibilities under the hood exist also. I'm going to try to work my hi lift in the engine bay in separate parts.

This is the best answer. I didn’t go with longbox because it uses aftermarket seat brackets. When it comes to safety and crash ratings I prefer to stick with factory engineering. I have the one that adds 3 boxes under the seat, as one large unit, that keeps the factory brackets. It was a pretty easy install once you get past taking a knife to your carpet.

Agreed, very easy install. I have zero concerns with the ESP seat mounts. ESP did not cheap out on these in the slightest. They are just as beefy and heavy as OEM and appear to be just as well made. They don’t change how the seats are supported or where they mount.

The brackets on our trucks are elevated all the way forward because the 2nd gen Tundra rear seats used to slide and recline. Toyota removed that feature in 2014 but kept the same brackets that create that useless elevated shelf on the rear floor. Kinda lame.

The ESP mounts are the same size as OEM until the part that is forward of where the seats mount.

Are you saying or do you know for a fact that I could easily swap over to the previous rear seats and gain recline feature or is the high floor foam going to be a problem? I'd like to have the recline feature and a DIY underseat storage unit if possible for a decent price.

All I know from reading is that the brackets never changed in 2014, and the early 2nd gen trucks’ rear seats slide and recline. I’m assuming that in order to slide and recline the rear seats, you would need that OEM bracket height all the way forward. But I haven’t checked into it.

There was someone on here about a year ago that tried to swap 07-13 seats into their 14-21 and said it didn’t line up. I don’t remember who it was though.

Edit: maybe I was wrong, although this guy never came back with pics.

works great, easy install and tucks up nicely in the wheel well..

its big enough for jumper cables a tow strap , cargo straps , tire plugs/mini compressor , ect ...

fits under my bed cover , its lockable and its easy to remove if you need to..

didnt have to cut my cab up either..

You can do more with a back seat than just sit in it.

I keep telling my wife that. Thing is I have no place to put the seats. That would be a bitch getting in the attic

EDIT: Well after our 3,500+ mile adventure across the country my wife is convinced that it would be much better with no rear seats. I am sure I could get folks to sit in the bed if I had to pickup anyone from the airport or something

What would cutting the bracket provide?

    The back would fold down.

Wouldn't that make them useless as a seat without a secure back?
