how'd you wire/install the marker lights under the headlights and on the running board? its badass

 

i tapped in at the trailer harness. The side lights all blink with the turn signals in addition to running lights.

 

Did you drill into the running board to install those lights?

 

Drilled into the pinch panel that comes down from the body. 3/4” holes.

 

did you tap into the headlight for the two led marker lights on the bottom headlight cover panel?

 

No. I had already run the wires for the 3 grill lights so i just tapped into them.

 

Did you tap into the 7 pin? Or 4 pin for the trailer harness? I’m just confused, on my 7 pin the signal wire says “Right Stop/Turn”

It’s going to illuminate when I brake and use a turn signal?

 

Hmmmmm. Im not sure off the top of my head. Maybe i did splice off a turn signal lead at front. Will have to check and let you know. Stand by.

for my raptor lights I spliced into my turn signal. You should have 3 wires going to it, take a multimeter and figure out which wire comes on when you turn your DRL on, and which gets power when you hit your blinker. Tap into the wire that gets constant power when your DRL is on, not the one that gets power when the blinker is on (you'll know because the blinker power will... blink (on off on off))

That is for a 2nd gen with the turn signal DRLs

For the 2.5, if you have the DRL at the bottom of the headlight, you could just tap into whatever power wire is for that, and whenever those white DRLs are on, your raptor lights will also come on

 

Thanks for the reply, my question was in regards to his running board lights.

I fused tapped my grill marker lights into the headlight low beams

 

if your raptor lights only come on with your low beams, you could also tap into your brake lights for putting running board lights in, the "running light" portion of the brake light (not as bright a red as when braking) comes on when your DRLs or headlights are on, you could tap into those just like with the front DRLs and bring the wire to your running boards. Or if you wanted the running boards to blink like a blinker, tap into your rear turn signals on either side

 

Thank you, I just need to find a post on where to snake the wires to get them close to the rear lights.

 

when I routed my reverse cam, I snaked it through the frame rail, then once you get to above the rear suspension, you should be able to travel upwards in the bedside to reach the taillight pocket

 

I did tap into the front turn signal light circuit for the turn signals on them. Sorry about the misspeak. It has been a minute.

 

Another option is also creating a T-harness instead of splice into turn signal plug to get the raptor lights switched with your parking lights (2014-17 SR5/PRO/Limited models only) for 2014-17 Platinum/1794 and 2018-21 SR5 models you have to splice into the side maker violet wire to get this same functionality.

- The RED wire in the Raptor Lights > Violet wire in turn signal plug

- Black (ground) wire Raptor lights > White wire in turn signal plug or simply grounded to any metal chassis part.


That’s how my custom lights are wired so the lights only work with the parking lights.

 

yep, thats exactly how I have mine wired in, minus the custom T harness

 

Toyota didn’t do it because it “caught on” lol it’s required by the DOT for vehicles over a certain width. Same reason the TRX has them.

 

If it is required then why has none of the other generation vehicles have them? ‍♂️

 

Because it’s wider than 80” and 1.4” wider than other trims

 

Thank you. For those marker lights in the pitch panel. Do you have an issue where your turn signal will only blink once if your DRL are not on?

I installed my OPT7 sidekick lights and I’m not super happy about them. I tapped into the front turn signal signal wire and DRL wire. I have an issue where my DRL needs to be on all the time otherwise my turn signal will only blink once

Where did you tap into for the side marker lights in the pitch panel to function as both DRL and turn signal? I see you tapped into the front turn signal.

 

My 3/4” lights have 3 leads. 1) ground, 2) dim running light spliced into tail lights at trailer connector, 3) bright turn signal spliced into turn signals at bottom front of headlights.

No issues that i am aware of.

The lights are good but the wiring needs a few modifications to make it fully waterproof ohh and fit only for the 2019-2021 TRD PRO grille
