Which one you think? 285/65/20 or 285/60/20?

Hey all. Trying to figure out which is the tallest safest size tire I can fit on my 22 Platinum stock wheels to fill up the wheel well? Trying to avoid rubbing, wheel poke and I probably will install mudflaps. I will probably go with the BFGoodrich KO2s because I like the look but I am stuck on which size to go with.

    295/60/20
    285/65/20
    or
    275/65/20

Any advice and/or pictures would be super helpful. Thank you.

35x11.5R20 fit great on the factory TRD wheels (I have a limited, so not 100% sure if the Platinum has the same wheels or?.... no level / lift, no poke, no rubbing, didn't have to pin the liner, and have mudflaps.... found this size cheaper than the metric equivalent as well. I had K02's on my last rig, and they got annoying loud after about 20k miles (similar size).. I went with the Nitto Recon Grapplers, and love them so far... only got about 3k miles on them... but so far so good... and I like the aggressive sidewall.. I have some pics if you click on my member name

Would the Falken Wildpeak LT295/70R18 fit on my Platinum factory wheels without any issue? What if I get a leveling kit for the front?

The Platinum wheels are 20", not 18", so those tires aren't the right size.

I have heard of folks installing 35" (or close) tires on stock Platinum wheels successfully with just a 2" front leveling kit. Without that you may have to do some trimming. I'm planning to use my stock Platinum wheels as well and just a front level to get close to 35" tires, like someone in this thread did: https://www.tundras.com/threads/35s-on-oem-rims.107959/#post-2826807

There are multiple posts in this thread about larger tires on factory Platinum wheels with just an Amazon front level and manual rear AVS adjustment, looks sharp: https://www.tundras.com/threads/leveling-22-platinum-with-avs-air.99893/page-2

Plenty of 2.5 gen people running 295/60s on the factory 20x8" wheels. Follow the above post too for good links. ^^

Hey guys! First of all, thanks to everyone that posted pictures of their wheels/tires setup, it helped me a lot to make my selection.

I went with Toyo Open Country AT3 275/70R18 with Fuel Rush 18x9 +20

Out of curiosity what made you get that leveling kit vs a cheaper one on Amazon? I plan on getting a cheaper one, then the Toyo A/T III's 35/11.5/R20's. Also, if you don't mind me asking, what was the cost to get the leveling kit installed?

get the cheap level first to get the look and fit bigger wheels then once a full setup is readily available change it out. That’s what I’ve done and you don’t want to spend too much on a level just to pull it out.

Wait, so you got a 2.5" lift for both, or just a level? Isn't the level just 1.75" for the front?

2” level in the front, zero in the back right now. I want the TRD 3” lift and I’ll wait for that, the 3-1 westcott level is too much money to spend just to take it out later on. The 1.75” level is from RC, still too much money just to pull out again. :spending:

I thought you were the OP I had quoted, my bad. Yeah I am planning to get the cheap leveling kit and the 35/11.5/R20 Toyo A/T III's. Then if I ever decide to put a bigger lift on, I'll get something like the TRD Pro one.

They putting on tires and front leveling kit right now . Will pick up in few hours and send pics. I’ve been using ready lift on other tundras and been satisfied. Use trucks a lot on farm roads. Not sure how much installation is . I’ll let you know later today. Thanks

I plan on getting a front leveling kit and the Toyo AT3's as well, but I was going to get them in 35/11.5/R20. Any reason you went with that size? From what I understand the 35's will fit just fine and will be a little bigger

Found out today and wanted to share that anything above a 2” leveling front kit , the front sensors would need to be calibrated. Could be bit pricey . My kit was 2” so I’m good.

Little to large of a tire for my needs. Not sure how either will affect gas mileage. I’ll post something when I can .

It’s the owners call as to get the sensors checked. Toyota will not do it . What I’m saying is that if an owner wants to be exact and match factory settings for safety etc , then they should get anything over 2” get alignment check .
    Just saying….
