TOTAL CHAOS - Stock Length Lower Control Arm (LCA) - Should I upgrade?

We choose Polyurethane bushings for a great blend of performance and longevity while maintaining a street-friendly ride. These will provide a more responsive feel which many users love. Urethane bushings are stronger for off-road applications. Road vibrations are a little bit more noticeable, but the performance increase on and off the road makes up for it 10x.

So I keep coming back to/looking at these lowers and come to the same question, simply based off visual appearance and not seeing them in person.

To me it looks like, from pics, that in static the lower C/O mount is higher on the TC arms vs the OE set as they are recessed into mid width on the LCA.

Is this just a trick on my eyes or do the King shocks have a special collapsed length to account for this?

On the Tundra LCA, the Coil Over and Bypass are at the same levels as the factory equipment. The Lower Shock drops down into a pocket up front and the rear bypass mount isn't on top of the LCA. The lexus pictured above has a different mounting style from the factory ^

The Coil Over shock is the same model that bolts to the factory LCA. We did work with King to develop a stock length bypass shock, It works on our LCA's and OEM LCA bypass mount.

I need ur advise am planning to buy the lower control arams for my tundra my question i have already installed the total upper control on my blisten shocks what should i go for in the lower control am not dessert fan but if it will make the car looks good plus more comfortable in bumps i will go for them

This my car i know in this picture my car is lowered because i don't have pictures lifted with blisten shock so give my ur advice should go for the lower and is the TRD front sway bar should be remove if i install them pls give me ur opinion

 

@TOTAL CHAOS Do you guys know if your Tundra stock length LCA is compatible with your spec King 3.0 bypass that you offer? It looks like it is already a tight tolerance between the abs tab and the 2.5 secondary shock in the photo above^. Just wondering if you guys have tested fitment on this yet. A King 3.0 CO and 3.0 bypass for stock length sounds very intriguing.

 

Currently the way King makes their 3.0 C/O, if you were to run it you wouldn't be able to run the secondary hoop because the King 3.0 C/O has the studs come up through the coil bucket where our hoops mount.

 

Would you guys consider remaking or modifying the current secondary hoop in order for this to work?

 

At this time that isn't in the works but it would be something to consider in the future.

 

I ran the TC upper and lower control arms paired with Kings on my Tacoma. I loved this set up and am planning on doing the same on the Tundra.

would you happen to have the secondary bypass shocks in stock for the mid travel hoops? The lead time from King is insane right now.

You will like them. I had them on my Taco and was saving for these but spent the $$ on bike parts instead. I noticed a difference in the amount of LCA deflection with the bushing differences and was able to get really good caster numbers. They are still on the top of the list for the Tundra.

 

From your experience did you notice if these helped keep alignment in check? Usually, after a wheeling trip I would need an alignment - learning how to do alignments myself helped keep cost and time down.

 

I didn’t have any alignment issues but it was a smaller truck with smaller tires. You might want to add cam tab gussets if you haven’t already. I also saw in a different thread that someone installed octagonal (?) cam tabs.

 

Just bought a set these lca coming in Wed. By any chance does these lca push the wheel forward or did I read that wrong somewhere? I believe almost an in

 

Will the coilover/shocks work from the stock width kit to the long travel?

 

Nope. LT kit requires different shocks. Total Chaos list the required part number on their website.

Expedition series - Has a new uniball housing that was not on the race series? This is also listed on the original post for this thread so I’m wondering if this is just a name change from race to expedition or if there is actually a physical difference/design change…

Does anybody have the expedition series LCA’s? would love some real world pictures/feedback.

 

Sounds and looks like they just changed the name. I bought them back in October when they were called “race series” if I remember correctly. Regardless, I’m super happy with them and know they can take a beating

 

Thank you! and they do look beefy. I’ve been eyeing these and comparing to the Dirt King LCA’s (big price difference). I already have TC UCA’s.

 

Yes it's overall just a name change. We originally had called the new products "Race Series" but as time went on we found that some people felt that they didn't need to "race" their trucks and thus didn't need "race" parts.
Upon making improvements to the Tacoma LCA (new billet Uniball and steering stops) we decided to make that the "Expedition Series" to better market towards it's target user.
The 87555-R (stock Tundra LCA) has always had the billet uniball and steering stops but was developed before making a shift towards "Expedition" and getting away from "Race".

TLDR: same arm, same performance, new name.

 

Just picked up a used set and there is a ridiculous amount of noise…at first, I thought it could be the bushings, but I’m wondering if it’s the uniballs that need some PTFE lubricant. Either way, I’ll be lubing the uniballs tonight

 

The uniballs do squeak but also the bushings

 

any advice?
