I have 2 oem Toyota filters in back stock so think I'm good there. Probably going to pull the trigger and see how it performs, got an oil change coming up at 30k, I'll probably change it again at 40k. Going to try it primarily bc I need to order HD metal protector from amsoil anyway for my undercoating because ... winter is coming.

Yup. Also, are recommending against a 10k change?

I did 7500 once and never again. 5k is enough for me. I would probably have a different opinion if I only logged Highway miles though.

I drive about 200+ miles / week highway with inner city mixed. I'll check it routinely after 5k.

Theoretically speaking someone doing 25k in a one year period is doing mostly highway mileage. Highway mileage is very easy on any oil. Modern Toyota motors are easy on oil in general. Mileage isn’t an issue and I believe most oils recommend you change it every 12 months regardless. A smell test isn’t a good indicator of an oils ability to lubricate. Dark colored oil means it’s doing its job of keeping your motor clean. Sludge is a completely different story…

Many of today’s oil are capable of what they claim despite personal opinions one way or the other. An oil analysis is one of the most accurate way to determine whether it is.

With that said there are circumstances whenever you wouldn’t want to go 5k or 10k plus. I would think off-roading, towing at max capacity consistently, constant idling, or low yearly mileage would require more frequent oil changes but again an oil analysis will clarify this.

I just ordered online. Go to their website, and enter your truck's info. It'll show you a list of everything they offer for your truck. If you add 10qts of the signature series 0w-20 and the signature series filter to your cart, you'll actually save a bit of money by adding a membership because the prices are lower for members.

People have tried for years to denounce Amsoil as snake oil, but they consistently outperform every other oil, and they pass all the 25k-interval tests with flying colors.

Also once again, my engine likes it. It doesn't tick like it used to. I save so much money (and peace of mind) doing my own maintenance, I don't mind paying for Amsoil, especially at the increased intervals that I'll change it at.

    @Terndrerrr

Did the same thing just today. I actually got a 6 mo trial, I like their site and its easy to navigate. Purchase 3, 1-gal jugs, 4 cans of HD protectant

The HD metal protectant is awesome. I use that underneath. I’ll need to reapply here in a couple months or so.

Did a lot of research before applying it last season. Heard nothing but positive from it. A lot of people use fluid film and other similar products, sure they all work great and is right for them, but comparatively there was a few more positives with the HD. NH Oil :smash: no way :crapstorm:

For motor oil, M1 or Amsoil  ... just so I don't high jack the thread

I use to get all OCD about oil. Then one day I said screw it. When has an engine blown up because of the manufacture used? Maybe from the wrong weight, lack of oil, lack of maintenance, abuse etc. And let’s face most people don’t keep a vehicle long enough to even know what oil will be best in the long run. Some of these oils ain’t cheap and when you compare cost to benefit ratio your paying way more for those benefits than you would with a more normal price oil. Change it regularly and use a good filter. The End.

I don't smell my oil, I don't care what color it is, I don't do something because it worked for Bubba down the street, I don't do what my grandparents did, I don't think one oil feels better than another oil, or sounds better, or any of that stuff. It's cheap to actually test out what you are doing and see if it is a good idea. I'm sold on extended oil change intervals and getting it tested. I'll be doing the same on the new Tundra now that it is out of factory warranty. This engine ran like a top until I sold it, and keeps running great over the past 2 years as I have seen the buyer a couple times (over 180k miles now.) This is for a 2005 Tundra. It is also possible that this might be able to be done with oil from another manufacturer (all below is Amsoil signature series 5W30.) However, I have a tested winning combination and will stick with it.
No relationship with either Amsoil or Blackstone other than being a customer.

That's great I'm happy for you. It's a little anal for me but, shows that combo is working as expected.
Everyone other's mileage may vary and quite possibly will.
Environment and duty cycle mean a whole lot.
Again, scheduled changes with filter will keep that ICE running as designed.

Bulk conventional oil with cheapo filters changed once a year 200K + and still going. The life of a municipality owned F150, sadly it will be put out to pasture soon due to rot, not bad for a 20 year old truck.

Not bad for POS FORD as they should never see the north side of 200,000 miles on the best of life.
This thing must have been driven on nice days under 50 mph, down hill, with a tail wind. LOL

Just wanted to remind any fans of Mobil 1, that they have the current rebate going on until Sept 30. It did take over 3 months for me to get the prepaid card, but hey, money back is great anytime.
