So after some heavy negotiations as to why we needed a 4Runner over the Rav4 we had, and why it HAD to be the Pro model, I was able to sell my wife on the idea of us getting it a few months ago.

After a couple delays on the expected arrival it finally made it to our lot and while I knew I would be happy, I was super thrilled that she was pumped upon seeing it in person. Up until now she had only really seen the Limited model, which she did not like at all, so I took a slight gamble and so far so good.

Having the Tundra and the Runner will make for some great driveway photos and the mods will slowly trickle through. I have to make sure to allow her to guide this one as the deal is, this will be hers and mine will be the Tundra... let's see how this adventure goes!

First Mod - Natural Light! It Burns!

Can't take baby home without tinting those front windows! I can't stand the unfinished look of leaving the front windows plane while the rear ones are dark. Also, I'm sure I'll be needing to also sing in her Runner when I get to drive it around!

Pictures look similar, but you will notice slightly darker glass on the front which now closely match the rear!

    Thank you very much!
Will be nice to have it home and slowly change some items to make it a lil more our own.

Have to. Can't let them bake in the Nevada heat. Lol. The tundra barely fits front to rear. I got like 3 inches to spare.

I am also in aggressive negotiations with my wife on why we need a 4runner over a Rav4.

    Please elaborate on your tactics.

As a sales person she is aware everything I say is a pitch... lol... so I just casually list the pro's of having one and keep highlighting the extra space our kids and dogs will inherit.

She also seems to have caught the bug of modding that the Tundra can now look like it does vs where it began as she already told me she wants me to get a Gobi rack once we get to that part of the mods and money lol.

Also keep persistent! Don't let up but like keep approaching the subject in passing lol. Ninja whispers! :stirthepot:

I'm so jealous! Congrats on the 4Runner! When me and the wife went to toyota to order my Tundra TRD Pro we saw a used 4Runner TRD Pro... We almost walked off the lot ordering the tundra and the 4Runner! lol My wife said the same thing... The limited looked like poop but then when she saw the Pro she loved the 4Runner! Enjoy your sweet rides!!

Second Mod - These Boots Were Made for (Off)Roadin...

I wasn't keen on the look and reviews of the Nitto's that I had read, also my mental state required that both vehicles had the same tires so these got swapped before bringing the T4R home. It's still very quiet and I can't wait to get it out on some dirt to have some fun. I feel the more aggressive look of the KO2s kick it up a notch. Next to go, or soon to go are the running boards. They come standard on Canadian models, but they will become NFabs shortly. Already on order!

Third Mod - Turn Down For WHAT!?

So the wife and I thankfully share a similar taste and she agreed that the rear chrome had to go! She first wanted to black out the letting like the Pro stamping, but when I explained that white would pop vs the black surround and black would just hide it, she agreed to give it a go. After seeing the completed work, it seems we both agree the white on the lettering/logo was the right way.

More appearance mods on the way and then we'll see where it goes from there. She gets to lead the charge on this one.

I haven't gotten to drive it very much, but she drove me today when we picked up the kids... I never let her drive me. Maybe "old fashion" but I just enjoy driving too much to be her passenger. She never cared if I drove any of the other vehicles we've had previous, but she has really taken to the Runner as being her own and it was super comfortable in the passenger seat.

I also enjoy sitting similar in height to the Tundra, where the Highlander we used to have and the Rav4 were a lower seating.

Well I get to cheat a little bit... my wife works for Toyota Canada on their production line, and I'm a Product Adviser (Sales), so we have a slight price advantage.
I had to wait a while after their release however if any were still available to keep it "Fair" they said. Watching 3 weeks of the available 4Runner not get spoken for was tough, and the Tundras were all sold and then a dealership a few Provinces over called us needing a Tacoma we had on our lot and we worked out to get their remaining Pro Tundra.

So some luck, and some perks working together. :transformer:
