Hey can someone answer this question real quick if they have done it with the TRD skid plate. When replacing the included hardware with the security bolts, you are replacing the rear most bolts on the skid plate with the 3/8" by 4" long security bolts. Are there any issues with changing out the 15mm bolts with the 3/8" since you have that wedge washer on top of the frame member and is the 4" bolt long enough to do this with a 1/4" aluminum cat plate.

@Classy63 I'm about to pull the trigger on the hardware group buy that @AT x AT is putting together, but figured it'd be a good idea to first ask you....do you think you'll definitely be making plates for 7" BDS lifts?

If you are, I'm in no rush & can wait for it, no prob. I just don't want to get in on a group buy for something that might not get made. Thanks!

Back on the shield topic. Mine have been installed for a little over a month, no issues and no complaints. I also picked up the skid plate, tons or complements on the design and who can't love a Volknut. I had some wear from the OEM and had zero issue with the skid plate. Yall need to stop the group buy discussion on this thread.

I work property crimes in Texas. We keep getting hit for cats, night after night. MANY of them are Tundras. So frustrating. A set of Tyler’s plates have been ordered and will be installed on my truck soon to prevent the ol’ :sawzall:

There's a banner at the top of the @Classy63 website stating wait times can exceed 4 weeks.

I placed my order last week and don't expect it for at least another 3 weeks. For reference, there are some members who are going on 5 weeks since they have placed their order.

As of May 19th, there were 100 cat shields that are getting powder coated or need to be cleaned up a little:

Additionally, @Classy63 is making a mockup of V3 for the cat shields:
If you factor all of the moving processes going on, it would be realistic to expect getting your cat shields at least 4 weeks from now.

I apologize to all that have been waiting…. Aluminum I am about 1.5 months behind, and steel about 2 months behind, but I am catching up fast. I’m the next few weeks I should be under 1 month for both as long as no other problems arise

I have a complete set of 1/8" Valhalla steel shields painted in black rustoleum. Ready for immediate pick up (well it will take me 30 minutes to remove from my truck). $750 located in Clear Lake, Texas (South of Houston). Heck with trade-in values off the charts why not play the game....

I commented on this issue on another thread (Desert Eagle + RCI fit). It was truly a pain in the patooty to tighten the nuts on the rear RCI carriage bolts with the DE cat plate in place. Nightmare is actually more how I would describe it. After I got mine tightened (nearly got my hand stuck multiple times), I considered how many four-letter words a mechanic would call me and how much money he would charge just to undo this so he could work on something in those spaces ….

So I’m currently waiting for Tyler’s rearmost plate to cover the back cats and will redo everything so that it all can be removed from the “outside” of the plates. It will involve cutting notches in the RCI, but I just cannot envision a busy mechanic being happy with spending time trying to blindly get a ratchet wrench in a minuscule space just to take off a skid plate.

BTW thank you Tyler for all your hard work.

I didn't have any issues with my DE and RCI. Of course I have tight space mechanical experience from working on jet engines. :D

I can see where it wouldn’t be a big thing for guys like you who do stuff way way gnarlier than this for a living, but I have XL hands AND I’m claustrophobic, plus I’m just a do-it-yourselfer, so getting into that small blind space, hands wedged in, on my back underneath a vehicle was on the outer limits of my zone. I have great respect for guys like you who can do that hard stuff in tight awkward spaces.

I got it tightened—but my concern going forward: what’s going to happen when it goes into the shop and it has to come off? Is the guy at the shop going to have your skills? If not, he’s going to be pissed.

Yea, one of the advantages of being a small guy. I’m able to reach in from under the driver side a-arm and grab the passenger side bolt with my hand. Even easier with a wrench

For those with SDHQ sliders, I finally found a way to make the rear plate work with them.

Had to cut the bracket included and weld it to the SDHQ slider bracket so that I still had the option to take the plate off and service the transfer case if needed. Painted the bracket afterwards to make sure to keep the rust off. The design of the plate is awesome. Thanks for making a great product!
