Just ordered new front and rear bumpers and they are arriving this afternoon. I plan on hooking the light pods up to the existing fog light wire harness. But was wondering if its possible to hook the light bar up so it only comes on with my high beams? Or if I should wire to a 3 position switch (work independently, in tandem with highs and off)

Electrical is new to me so I've been reading up the best I can.

I plan to tie the rear pods into the reverse lights

Yes, I had an add a fuse with one of the highbeam fuses along with a switch. The lightbar would come on with the high beams if the switch was left in the on position.

I originally had LED light pods wired to come on with my reverse lights. Now I have them setup on a switch (on-off-on) to either come on when I flip the switch one way, off in the middle, or come on with the reverse lights.
The reason for that is because when I did not need/want those BRIGHT LED pods turning on when I was backing out of a parking spot on the road or parking lot and potentially blinding the person coming up the road.

On my work truck, I currently have my light bar tied directly to my high beams. (through a relay) and I want to put them on a switch where it I can turn off the light bar if I don't need it. I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

I need the light bar and the rear light pods for plowing snow, in the woods, or driving down a lease road where there is no traffic or street lights or anything like that.

Yeah I'm leaning more towards the 3-way for the light bar, I like the idea of the 3-way for the rear. and will probably run the front pods off my existing flood light wire harness with an adapter

I always use a relay triggered off the factory high beams for my supplemental lighting. If you ever plan to use them for backroads where you may encounter traffic and need to dim them quickly, a switch is a pain.

Do you mind linking a relay or providing a part number? - like one you'd use for a light bar or pair of ditch lights?

Just google "light bar relay kit"........10 bucks almost everywhere. Most kits come with switch, relay, wiring and instructions (which looks like it will helpful for you). Some states require accessory lighting be switched. If you want your forward lighting to come on with the high beams, just run your trigger wire through the switch and turn it on/off. (see post #3)

I have lightbar on with my high beams too, for this reason. A push button switch is too hard to get at quickly. On mine, I went one step farther in case I ever needed to have my high beams on but my light bar off. With a second relay, I tied into the fog light switch, so that if I have my fog light switch off, my light bar wont be on with high beams. If you are doing lighting stuff, may as well also look at the mod that keeps you fog lights on with your high beams. May as have all of the lights on!

I was mainly wanting them on a switch for when I go camping and I might need to set up camp in the dark, mostly the bar will be used only with high beams on backroads.

That looks pretty sweet, but a little out of my price range ( if I was looking at the right thing?)

how did you find which wire runs your highbeams? Did you find a diagram for the headlight assembly plug in?

Instead of splicing into the high beam wire has anyone tried locating high beam fuse or is that not a thing here. I haven’t looked yet.

I've got my light bar set up like that. Add a fuse from the highbeam to the + on my switch. It then goes to a relay and the light bar gets its power straight from the battery.

With my setup, the light bar comes on with highbeams, but only when the switch is in the "on" position. I can leave the switch on and toggle the high beams/light bar with the highbeam stalk, or let them turn on and off with the auto highbeam feature ('21 trd sport premium).

I used to have the light bar on it's own switch, but like others I found it to slow to disable when encountering oncoming traffic.

This is perfect. Wired my 42in grill one yesterday according to instructions and I love it but the separate button is a pain. Figured unhook the positive wire from the battery and run it off high beam fuse that way I still have the button to disable it with during inspections and way easier to manage it on back roads with high beams stalk switch. Awesome.
