I'll be getting some 4" too for the ones that bought both plates.

    @MoonRock2021

I posted in the other thread..... but....

I have the DE front plate and am awaiting delivery of my Valhalla rear plate.

I’d like to use security bolts for my entire application. Will this work? I’m not versed enough to know if this is applicable...

Maybe @Tundra234 has some insight? He seems to be very knowledgeable on these cat shield threads

    Ah ok, thx.

    It sounds like I need:
    • front shield: 2 x 2" bolts and 2 x 4" bolts
    • rear shield: 2 x 4" bolts
I'm confused after looking at Tyler's latest pics (post #473) while his truck was recently on a lift. Aren't the rear shields supported by a bracket on each side? And doesn't each bracket require 2 bolts? If so, I'm also gonna need security bolts for that missing one.

Just want to ensure I'm getting all the bolts I need to make this hell for a determined thief.

If this is for the 2" bolts I'm in. Already have some 4" in hand.

I don't think they make them that big but Tyler sends these in his kit.

    @Tundra234 @Safar85 @Classy63

Can you guys confirm this looks correct on where each bolts go on Front and Back Cat Shields? Where would the 3/8 x 16 x 2" go or are they not needed at all?

    More than a few.....
Your depiction for the 3/8 x 4" screwd is correct based on what I did. The 3/4 x 2" is a substitute size when they are out of 1.75". I dont feel the 1.75" security bolts are necessary, but I am a fan of overkill if you want to spend money and be extra sure.

I would like to clarify that if you have a TRD front skid plate, and want to use Tyler's provided hardware, you WILL have to bore out the holes where it mates to the crossmember with Tyler's plates. Using the 3/8 x 4" bolts is the perfect solution here because you dont have to drill out holes in the trd skid, AND you get security bolts.

Looking at Tyler's bolt specs at the bottom of post #1 and his clarification in post #73 (while referencing someone's pic that shows some of the bolts in post #97), I misunderstood the bolts that are needed for both plates. My apologies for that error in post #549.

Tyler posted that the front plate needs:
    • two: 5/8 x 4 (front)
    • two: 3/8 x 4 (rear)
and the rear plate needs (with some visual reference from the 2nd pic in post #146):
    • two: 1/2 x 1.75 (support bracket to rear plate)
    • two: 3/4 x 1.75 (support bracket to frame)
With regard to the front plate:
@Tundra234 said he successfully used 3/8-16 x 2" SCREWD bolts in post #327 but looking at his pics in post #357 I think he's using it on a different front shield. I think he successfully used 3/8-16 x 4" SCREWD bolts for the rear Valhalla shield from post #410. While it would be nice to hear from someone who can confirm that it also works for the forward position of the front plate (maybe @Tundra234 does in post #504?), I'm assuming it will when using washers/nuts that I'll have to buy on my own. It's the 5/8's spec from Tyler that's bugging me but not enough to shy away from @MoonRock2021 's group buy.

With regard to the rear plate:
The only additional bolts needed are for the support brackets. Looking at the 2nd pic in post #97 suggests that 3/8-16 x 2" SCREWD bolts could be used for both positions on the bracket when used with appropriate washers/nuts that I'll also have to buy on my own. Again, while it would be nice to hear from someone who can confirm fitment here I'm still willing to take a chance and assume this will work.

@MoonRock2021: Since I bought Tyler's front and rear plates (unless I hear differently from someone who can confirm that my assumptions are incorrect) for a stock non-TRD 4x4 I'd want to ensure I'm getting at least:
    • four: 3/8-16 x 4" SCREWD bolts
    • four: 3/8-16 x 2" SCREWD bolts
    • along with the #37 security bit
I think this was what you initially suggested in post #503 but I got confused with subsequent posts.

Hope this helps. If not, maybe I shouldn't be part of the group buy, haha. Ideally though, @Classy63 can do a bulk buy of these sizes, confirm fitment and sell it on his website so there's no confusion/hesitation - I'd be 100% behind that and will race to order it.

I see where the confusion is with mine. I have the DE front plate and it attaches at each corner. It uses a steel tab with a welded nut and slides inside the crossmember. That is where the 1.5 or 2 inch bolts would fit. Tyler's plates are cut to attach at the same point or pretty close to where it mates up to the engine skid plate in which the 4 inch would be used as it passes through both plates and the crossmember with washers and nuts on top.

I have the DE plate as well. The 3/8 16 x 2 is what is needed for that plate and the 4 inch is what you need for the front side of the rear plate.

I just looked at the C4 sliders instructions video and it will bolt up for the rear too, just might need a spacer to compensate for the bracket bolting on top of the slider

I’m very pleased with my plates. I jumped on this early and shipping was daily quick. This is a great product and Tyler is doing a great job. That being said, being inundated with work is not the worst problem to have. Have patience those of you waiting, it’s worth it and this guy will deliver.

I got my plates a couple of weeks ago and finally got them installed at my dealership on a 21 TRD Pro. Printed out pictures from this thread as well as the install instructions from the website. Took them less than 30 min with no issues, but they said they did drop the front TRD skid plate.

I’m usually very hesitant to buy things from online forum members but Tyler was great to deal with and produces a great product with the customer service to match it. I’m super pleased with how everything turned out.

My plates arrived today, they look great and went on nicely.
I was planning on ordering security bolts but after installing them I don't feel the security bolts are worth the money. A thief would need 3 different size sockets, plus wrenches to match. My guess is they would try cutting the bolts or plates before attempting to unbolt them. I feel comfortable sticking with the stock hardware.
