New 2015 TUNDRA Owner from LB., CA.

Im looking to get lifted. Any suggestions?

 

I had a 2012 tacoma. Traded it in to get this Tundra, and I want to waist no time and start on some mods to get the best out of my truck. Performance and suspension r my main focus, but I am very much open to new ideas. Hope to get a lot out of this and thank you all in advance for having me.

With a lift higher than 4", you are on the fringe of being functional and aesthetically pleasing... I am assuming you are 4x4 so you are looking at a bracket lift which hinders your offroading ability... If you are looking for functional, I'd recommend sticking around 3" or so with a nice suspension lift. Look at OME or bilstiens... Or if you really want to mob the dunes, look into King, fox or Icon but those are $$$. Hope that helps...

I love the OME kit. I have 3 & 1/2 lift in the front and 1 & 1/2 lift in the rear. I consider it a suspension upgrade, not a 'lift'. I did not want to go with a larger lift mainly because I was not willing to cut the frame of my truck.

 

If I had the money I would go with a +3" coilover setup in the front and a 1" block spacer on the rear w/diff drop. UCA's if I was having problems with getting alignment in spec.
I'm looking forward to see long term reviews on the new bilstein 6112 setup.
On a side note. It seems like every used king, icon, or fox setup I see for sale needs a rebuild. Are these guys really kicking the crap out of them or do they often need to be rebuilt?

 

From what I understand, they have to rebuilt on regular basis. There are some who claim that they haven't rebuilt in years. But then there are those who rebuild it every few thousand miles. Since my mechanical ability is limited, I would have to send them to be rebuilt. That will require me to take the shocks out, send them out to be rebuilt (meanwhile, my truck would have to be out of commission), then reinstall them, then pay to get the truck aligned. Too much work and money for me.

I wanted maintenance-free heavy-duty set-up and the OME kit fit the bill. These things are used and abused by different trucks and Jeeps, all over, and I was not able to find any report of these things breaking. The replacement cost for the shocks is, I believe, cheaper than rebuilding cost of King/Fox/Icon. So after weighing different options, I went with OME.

 

I like your logic and for my intended use, I would do the same!
