How big is yours? Measure up!

Happy new year brother , nice truck you have. I have a similar silver sky 2005 doublecab that I recently added a Bilstein 6112 coilover lift to, believe it’s sitting about 1.75-1.85 inches of lift in front, and with a helper spring installed I’m about 3/8” higher in the rear . Tomorrow I have wheelers offroads 3 leaf progressive arriving , it’s basically very similar to the icon progressives you say you installed. Question - I assume you removed your overload lead when installing the icon pack? And just to confirm, you said you were sitting at around 22.75 in in rear after installing them? Do you recall what you were sitting at in the rear inch wise before the icon? Thanks in advance , trying to decide if I’m pulling or keeping the overload when I get rid of the helpers and add the progressive pack

 

Getting ready to throw a Wheeler's AAL on as well, so I'd be interested in that info as well...

 

I honestly did not measure before installing. I did remove the overload. It didn't seem to raise it immensely if I were to guess maybe an inch, but it does ride much nicer.

OME shocks 60091 with 1" block rear = 23"

285/70/17 KO2's
No rubbing.

I still need to add a winch and skid plates so the front will probably come down a little on the future.

 

I’m about to add 5100s all the way around on my 06 2wd, I’ll add measurements as I go. I agree with whoever said they had a ridiculous nose down rake.

 

Front: Bilstein 6112s 6th notch with 600lb springs, 3/8 spacer on driver's side, SPC UCAs, currently at 3.1 or so on the caster = 23"
Rear: Bilstein 5160s, Wheeler AAL with 3° diff wedge and factory overloads = 23.5" with the A.R.E. cap on.
285/70r17 BFG K02 on SCS BR8 17x8.5 -10

Have some rub on the driver's side mudflap when the steering wheel is cut to the left, both forward and reverse. Was hoping to use a heat gun to mold the flap a bit, but may need to beat down the pinchweld underneath. It isn't serious, just annoying.

 

Are you on stock leaf springs? Do you know how old they are? I'm just impressed and a little surprised you got that much lift from the AAL.

 

yes, stock springs. 2004, original as far as I know, 127k miles. I'm using the Wheeler AAL pack (3 springs) plus a 3° axle wedge that also adds a small amount. The factory overload is still in place as well. Wheeler claims 1.5" without the factory overload, I ended up with around 2 with the wedge and the overload.

 

2000 TRD 4WD with 5100's at the 4th notch on TRD springs. 21 3/4" up front, 22" out back. Measurements are center hub to the larger factory fender flares bottom edge.
265/75/16 Hankook Dynapro ATM's on 16x8" powdercoated Eagle 589's with 4.5" backspacing and 1.25" wheel spacers.

 

Interesting seeing the different measurements.

 

Thats a good little lift just from doing 2nd notch on 5100’s, with 4x4 to boot. The TRD springs I believe are the difference maker with how much stock springs will yield. Do you have the updated 5100’s? I know they redesigned them, but as far as I know they only changed the position of the top groove. So basically instead of the top being 1/2 apart it’s more like a 1/4 inch on the redesign.

 

Not sure, but I’ll snap a pic later and post it for a determination here. I know for sure the shop confirmed with me that we were doing just 1 notch up from stock.

I’ll also remeasure again for grins to confirm my priors.

 

Remeasured drivers side only. All pics are from drivers side, as well. My rear measurement bumped up from 22.5” to 22 7/8”! All things are the same except my two side boxes (40-50 lbs total) are now removed with new updated measurement.

Sorry, it’s hard to tell by this photo. If you can get a pic of the actual part number near the bottom of the shock, that would tell us if they’re updated. Here is a note from the wheelers off road website:

“Please note: This Bilstein model 24-261425 replaces the older Bilstein model 24-188265. The only visible difference we've seen is that the new shocks' top clip groove is slightly lower than the older model, yielding a little less lift on the top groove. Also, the new shocks ship with large flat washers for bump stop spacing.”

I bought it with the supercharger already installed. Not sure exact mileage. I was thinking it was on it during the service in 2006 at 132k miles but I did notice it had an OEM filter during that service. When I received it, it had a K&N which I think is common with the TRD S/C. So not really sure. Couldn't find any other records that would indicate the installation of the supercharger.

 

So today for grins I measured mine and the tape broke at 2”.

Seriously, my front was 21.25” and the rear 23” solid.

Keep in mind I’m as empty on gas as it gets due to upcoming Fuel Pump install. My hope springs eternal.

 

Your rear springs are a full inch higher than mine were completely unloaded. These ATS HD springs are only a half inch higher than your 20 year old stockers. Amazing.

 

Yeah. Its hard to understand as she has done her fair share of haul/tow. I always wondered about some Tundras I’d see on the road with saggy pants but know now that their are different springs for 2 or 4 wheel drive.


Yesterdays measurement was with maybe 2 gallons gas? The prior measurement a few years back I didn’t take note of the tank content. Seems my front has dropped 1/4” but the rear came up 1/2”. Maybe its the rear lift and frontal tilt down action Geometry happening?

I’ll take another measure with a full tank.

 

35/12.5/17s, 2in spacers, Radflo 2.5s, TC uppers, icon Add a leaf with overload sitting at 24 front and 23.75 in the rear. Ripped off the front fender flares if it makes any difference. Probably have too much preload adjusted on the coilovers honestly.

 

Measured again now that she has a topped off tank of gas.

21.5” on both fronts.

22.75” on driver rear

22.5” on pass side rear

Here things are loaded to camp 600# tongue weight and no weight distribution on yet. The front lifted 1/8th. This would not be safe to tow like this, demonstration only.

I can stand on the bumper and there is still a fair bit of suspension travel. The old springs would have been completely worthless at this point, bumpstop city, all day everyday.

These springs are made to do work and I like them.

 

I think I've posted before that I suspected the drivers side front was lower than the passengers side.

From the center of the hub cap to the top of the edge of the fender on the drivers side is 21.75 inches.

From the center of the hub cap to the top of the edge of the fender on the passengers side is 22.5 inches.

I'm only interested in the front right now so that's all I measured. Pretty bummed to confirm my suspicions. What can I do to fix it?

I even have the .25" spacer installed on the drivers side to account for the drivers side lean that usually comes with these trucks.

Can't fathom a .75" difference. I do not understand.
