I measured the fitting its 1/2 inch. I just need to find good 1/2 NPT to 3/8 barb elbows with one with a 12 inch extension if possible since I'm mounting the cooler vertically. I also receive my gates transmission hose and Toyota thermostat today.

Check inside the fitting to make sure there is no smaller flare taper. Measure the threaded ID of the fitting. Diameter will be slightly different depending if you measure root of thread or the peak, but that level accuracy is not important. Compare measured ID of fitting to the pipe outside diameters given in table below (~5/8" = 3/8" NPT, ~7/8" = 1/2" NPT):

It does come with a 1/2 to 3/8 adapter.

That appears to be an AN to NPS (national pipe straight) adapter. Which end threads into the cooler?...I'm betting it's the untapered end.

Big end goes to cooler which is 1/2. The smaller end (3/8) will go the the fitting and hose.

You can simplify the connection by skipping the adapter entirely, and using a hose barb elbow like the one you showed in an earlier post; i.e. elbow threaded end (1/2" NPS ?) with o-ring seal directly into the cooler, and hose barb to fit whatever hose you're using.

It is ALWAYS better to use the manufacturers specified threaded fitting size rather than guessing or measuring...might want to double-check the manufacturer spec.

Okay fellas, I guess it's a early morning. The connection is 1 inch to 3/4. I'll have to verify with the hayden website after work to make sure before I order.

That looks like the one I put inline in my 2010. I’m pretty sure I used the adapter that came with it with no leaks. Don’t think the atf fluid is under much pressure at the cooler.

I need some help finding some 90 degree elbows that have 3/8 barb end connection. I can't find the right size. Below are the stats on the cooler HD777.

The video of the guy changing the atf fluid on youtube via the cooler hoses looked pretty low pressure.

I see nothing here on cooler model HD777, unless it's that Model 243777 on the last chart. I've never worked with AN tubing fittings and I am unfamiliar with AN fitting descriptions.

Your best bet is to talk to technical service where you bought the cooler. Tell them the cooler model number and what you are trying to do. Maybe they sell adapter fittings that they know will work.

It is the 243777 model. After some research AN fitting (Army-Navy) are for high performance applications due to the seal from the metal to metal contact. Based on the fitting type (12an) I'm just going to order these parts and hope they fit. I'll let everyone know how it goes!

What do you guys recommend I do to secure the transmission hose? Are there curtain brackets someone recommends? Also, anyone recommend I install a filter like the one below?

Im late to the party. Did you get your fittings figured out? I am familiar with all the thread and fitting types shown/ listed above, and how the sizes are listed. The cooler looks to have -8 (1/2") Female ORB fitting Some general info:

AN is also known as JIC.

Straight thread with the O ring is also known as O Ring Boss or ORB.

ORB and JIC have the same thread. You can slide an O ring on a JIC flare fitting and use it in place of an ORB if needed.

They make conical seals for the JIC (AN) fittings if you have leaks, but hydraulic use they usually aren't needed. Make sure you torque to proper spec, other wise it can deform from over tightening and not seal as well.

I got it figured out. They are 10AN o-ring fitting for the hayden. I got 6an 90° and 45° for the hose fittings.

Yeah, I figure I'll just snug them up tight. I am planning on getting the cooler installed the following Monday after Christmas.

Looking at the pics of the warmer/cooler and the thermostat again. Is it simply the o rings on the warmer squeezing against the thermostat body that stops cross contamination of coolant and trans fluid?

From what I understand the warmer is just a closed system that acts as a warming plate. The o-rings are for the spacer or cooler assembly.

Yeah sounds more likely, hard to imagine just a couple o rings doing the job, lol. Anyways I'm closely watching your progress and will likely be following suit as I use my Tundra for a decent amount of towing but only put on 5-7k a yr and planned on keeping this for a fair while. Traded my 08 in and never gave a second thought about no flippin external cooler, guess you can't take anything for granted these days.

Made it back home. The mount came out perfect. Now just waiting on the stainless hardware to arrive to bolt it on.

@Roman do you happen to know the part number for these zip ties? I am going to use them to secure my transmission line since the same size oval holes are on the frame. The second picture is the hole its self its 1/4" x 1/2".

Quick question, hope you might know. When I remove the warmer and spacer plate, will ATF start spilling out? If so, how much do you think? If it will spill out a bunch of ATF I'm thinking of just jacking up the right side of the truck to shift all the fluid to the left side.
