I looked around but couldn't find any threads that summarize the best set of HP/Torque upgrades for the 4.7L Gen 1 motors. Specifically the 2002. Anyone have any suggestions?

It depends on how much you are willing to spend, I am enjoying my JBA short tube headers, LSD, and rear sway bar. Decent power gain, and much better application of total power.

Why? Swapping for an LS is a third of the cost and makes more power.

I'd stick to the UZ family. Swapping may sound cheap at first, but it'll open up a can of worms and may not be cheap at the final stage.

LSD = Limited Slip Diff? Is your truck a 2WD or 4WD? Mine's 4WD & so far I've not felt need to add LSD too. Hell, I barely have oppty to use the 4WD. Lot's of long nasty dirt roads in Baja, but not much of a rock climber (at least not yet).

Long tubes aren’t legal in CA either. Only for off-road use.;)

I know recently they got a little more strict. But now they only hook up the OBD. But still walked around my wife’s car making sure. I had to remove her Volant intake as it’s not CARB legal here. And on my previous truck they were looking underneath making sure I didn’t modify catalytic converter‘s.

You can have Keith from DD to create mid pipes for you that would pass emissions.

The kit in the installed pic at the bottom isn't the same. That turbo is from Turbonetics and its aimed in a different direction. If they're using pics of somebody else's work as an installed pic that scares me.

I’m running that kit above. You can find my build by googling turbo 03 sequoia. Should pop up. I go over some of the good/bad stuff.

4WD, and the LSD is great for added traction while in 2WD.

Still a few things he could do. Gearing, 12 hole fuel injectors and coolant throttlebody bypass mod. I’ve heard the fuel injectors really make it nice. And gearing always makes the truck feel good.
