So I been trying to search for ideas but due to this forums set up, it's nearly impossible to separate the performance threads between the three v8s. Then there's the subdivision between the non-vvti 4.7L and vvti 4.7L in the first gen Tundras.

So anybody have any insite as to how to squeeze more power out of my 2006 vvti 4.7L?

Super charger, but risky on our models? Not much we can do other than keep it tuned up and running clean. At least thats what I’ve read. I’m not a hot rod guy either so don’t take too much of my advice.

I’ve been doing a little reading about it and heard a few things. I would start with the fuel injectors from @dirtydeeds he has 12 hole injectors. Then do some long tube headers race exhaust and gears. Seriously call him up and he can set you up with the right stuff for your build. Call him before doing anything else. He will get it all lined up with the stuff you should order instead of what you think you should order.

    Great guy to deal with!

To my understanding the supercharger is hard to come by, plus requires some modifications to fit the vvti and finally the rods tend to explode under boost. According to my research anyways.

Dollar to horsepower ratio isn't great for these trucks, Toyota doesn't leave much on the table. If your truck feels sluggish because of bigger heavier tires think about lower gears.

Change the rear gear ratio, add a limited slip or locking rear diff while you are at it if your truck doesn't have one.

Newer Toyota engines really don't respond well to mods and don't have any aftermarket. I wouldn't waste $$$$ on the engine. Do the gear swap and see if that meets your satisfaction. If not, get a different truck IMO.

Man and I thought 100 over stock would be pushing it. What have you done?

I really want to buy one of your exhaust systems some day. I really like the dual side exit race exhaust. Is it street legal?

The engine can handle about 400 according to popular myth. I’m knocking on that door soon here.

There’s actually a lot that you can do.

As was mentioned above, gears is a big one.

    You can also:
    Stock air box mod
    Throttle body coolant bypass mod
    Long tube headers race exhaust
    12 hole Injectors
    E85 conversion
    Nitrous
    Turbo
    Supercharger

With the last 3 needing to be in moderation.

What's the throttle body coolant bypass?
Are your race exhausts street legal?

I'm hoping URD releases their vvti 4.7L stage 3 sc/ic kit for the tundra soon. It's already available for the 4runner and GX.

Literally loop the coolant outside of the throttle body rather than thru it.

We can add cats, including your stock cats if you send em to us.

In the mean time injectors make a big difference with or without a supercharger , if the kit doesn’t include any then you can run them ASAP.

    Yeah cuz that’s cheap.

I will always take the durability and longevity of the 4.7 over the 5.7.

Not everyone likes 10 mpg and all that comes with a truck that large. The OP got his truck a few months ago, a trade isn't likely.

@dirtydeeds what's your opinion on electric fans? Worth the swap? I think I remember you making one with a Lincoln fan.

Not to mention the ugly factor. I love the look of a first gen. The second gen can be gussied up to make it look halfway decent. I guess. Third gen is uggo.

First gen Tundras have more in common with first gen Tacoma and T100s than any other Toyotas. Whereas 2nd and 3rd gen Tundras can share most components, same for 2nd and 3rd gen tacos. We cannot. The first gen owner is a proud stubborn owner. Lol

And that goes double for me as I came from owning two 1st gen tacos before my 1st gen tundra.

This is true and the supercharger option is still available. They took ours away because the rods weren't always holding up to the boost. I am wondering about the 4.6L getting a supercharger

Relax bud, there’s no hatred between generations. I owned a 2010 5.7 CM for a year but sold it for a diesel ram to tow my bigger boats. I will own a 2nd, 3rd or 4th gen in the future.

Electric fans are an awesome way to hop yo your truck if you’re not towing.
