I have a 2016 Crewmax that I bought last year. I absolutely love the truck, and it came with a Rough Country 3 inch bracket lift installed and 35's on 20 inch rims. I do like the way that it sits, but because this truck has turned into our do it all family vehicle for road trips and weekend getaways, I would like to lower it to a 2-2.5 inch lift and 33's on 18 inch wheels. I have read through all 104 pages of the wheel and tire thread, all of the ironman 4x4 thread, and all of the dobinson suspension thread, and I have a few questions. We do camp and this is my hunting truck so I do want to retain some decent offroad performance for mild to moderate trails, but because of where we live it mainly sees pavement right now, so I need something that will ride great on the high way and not have to worry about offroad.

What brands should I look at for this size lift? Are Fox shocks worth the extra money or would Eibach or Dobinson be just as good for what I need? Should I look for some TRD PRO Fox take offs?

The truck currently has rough country upper control arms on it. I understand aftermarket control arms are necessary for 3 inches and up, but do I need to replace those with something different because I am going lower.

    Thanks!

I'd hit up @memario1214 about how you will have your vehicle set up. But if you are mainly using it as a daily and for camping, I'd go with Eibach Pro and may even RAS for the rear if you plan to have a tent or lots of gear loaded.

Memario is a good vendor as well as super nice and knowledgeable. He will not just try to up sell you but works to provide the best option that fits your budget. His price to your door also tends to be a bit better then other folks.

Shoot some pics of your “bracket” lift. If it’s truly a bracket lift (didn’t know they made a 3”) then they are not easily reversible.

I will get some pictures when I get home. It has spacers between the Coilover and mounting bracket that measure about 2.5 inches. Wheel hub to fender height is about 25 inches. I called Rough Country on Monday and they confirmed that it was a 3 inch lift. But I will get you some pictures when I get home.

Spacer or Puck lift. Not a bracket lift which is a very good thing

I concurr with @RobertD . For cost/value the eibach pro adjustable coilover kit and RAS is a great setup. I run that exact combo (along with rear sway for towing) on my 2016. Everything works well together and it is definitely a huge performance and handling improvement over stock and some other setups such as spacer lifts.

Dobinson's 2-3" kit is about $2k and will fix it up really well including new medium duty leaf springs. Your factory springs are probably about done anyway. Check Exit Offroad for more info.

I had been eyeing Eibach recently but didn’t know anything about them. Good to hear that it is worth it.

Also been looking into this kit. Just not sure with what to go with. For the money I want to make sure I get something I’m going to like and will last a long time.

Definitely not a bracket lift. It’s just a spacer and rough country control arm. If it were a bracket lift you would be in for a lot of work because you have to cut the crossmember and replace it with the lift one. What you have will be very easy to accomplish what you’re after and much cheaper

Im very happy with it for my needs. Id say it is a great option if your rear leafs are in good shape. If you need to replace the rear leaf springs, then Dobinsons and OME are worth a look, both solid reliable options that wont have you taking out a home equity loan.

Eibach is more road focused with some offroad use, mainly due to the 2 inch shocks. If you offroad more, a 2.5 diameter shock would be a better choice and Dobinsons and OME are more off road and overlanding centric. Im still running OME on my 4runner, 100k miles on that suspension and it still rides like new.

I have the Eibach pro front and rear. Have taken them off road and good handful of times in the Big Bend area of Texas, Always preforms well.

Thank you all for your replies.

I followed @RobertD's advice and talked to @memario1214. I originally was looking at the Eibach kit, but after talking to him we decided that the Bilstein 6112/5160 kit would work best for me.

I am grateful for all of the friendly members on here that help out when they can!
