One thing I do wish the new tundras had come form factory is perimeter lightning similar to F150 zone lighting.

Anyone have experience installing zone lighting on their new rig? Ideally when I lock and unlock the truck, they'd pop up temporarily.

Really weak they don’t even have puddle lights anymore , I don’t even think the power running boards are light either . Just walk up and get a shin buster in the dark? Lol

going to find out, that’s what I’m getting , ha!

It would be nice if they were lighted power bed steps too. But like everything else , it will likely be a pita to add some

Yeah agree on that, wish Toyota would have just done one or two things like this and it would be a home run

That’s one I thing I miss from my Ford, it’s the zone lighting. And the lightning went one step more and added the lights at the end of the running boards.

but I like my blue ambient interior lighting more

I've added a pair of Tacoma bed led cargo lights used as puddle lights. Mounted them under cab and not the mirrors.
Pics are on my build page.

I haven't seen anyone do this for 3rd gen yet, but the application would be the same. Just need to find dome / cargo circuit, either one for desired application.

I checked out your build page for the pictures on it and it looks awesome. Do you have pictures on how you mounted the LED underneath the truck? And where did you tape into the wire? Maybe a write up if you have the time? I would like to do the same to my truck.

The cargo lamps are sealed with no mounting provisions so they’re only zip tied to face down.
My truck has OEM cargo lamps so I extended the wires and tapped the stock LEDs. I can switch them off using the interior cargo switch.
I’m actually swapping them out for 4 KC cyclones.
Attached to L brackets and mounted to my predator step caps.
This should give me the output I want.

I added some cheap led light strips from Amazon, they came with 3M adhesive on the back and the wires were the exact length to reach up to my bed lights. they add a really nice amount of light next to the truck when I hit unlock or open a door. They are just stuck to the bottom of the molding, near where the running boards mount.
