I saw a fully functional 118k mile 6.0 LQ4 on Facebook Marketplace with what looked like a 4l80e attached 3 weeks ago for $1,200. With VIN verification and video proof of mileage and engine running. This was while I was at the parents' house near Dothan AL for Christmas.

    Bummer!

Make sure the donor engine is coming from (ideally) another 2005-2006 double cab. ELSE be sure to move all sensors and peripherals from your engine over to the donor before install. There are some minor wiring differences between years, cab types, and models (tundra/sequoia/land cruiser/etc.) with the 2UZ-FE that will cause you gremlins/frustration.

You CANNOT use a pre-2005 (i.e. non-VVTi) Tundra engine in this without significant pain.

@tompands this Gen 1 group is like nothing I've ever seen across many different types of support forums. These guys rock and I know I'm not going to get the same kind of support when I get my Gen 1 Ridgeline. (There, I said it.)

I'm late to this thread, but damn.
I've got a small story of my own on my truck that I'll share some day, but this one is certainly better than mine - err, this truck is worse than mine:rofl:

Will do. Mine has a happy ending so-far, but I'm waiting to register it again in March to see if the story throws me another twist.
I'm being coy about what's going on because I'm not totally certain of all the repercussions and I'm a little embarrassed of my impulsivity + trusting nature on the whole thing.

I'll definitely share though because I'd like feedback and expertise on the situation eventually.
But that's all for now :)

We've all been there, no shame in it. I just sold and bought back my truck in a span of 3 days. LOL.

Yeah, I know about the 05-06 thing. I found one with 108k on the clock, double cab with rotted frame. Trying to seal the deal right now. It's 1000 miles from me, but it will be worth the shipping. Truck looks brand new. Here I go with "site unseen again", but what the hell. I got a work force that works for me (6 Guys), and sometimes they get done early. They want to rip this locked up engine out and tear it apart to see what's up with it. I told them to have at it. One of them says he believes it's a broken CAM. Do these cam's break like that??? I guess we'll see here in the near future. 2 days until my cruise, looking forward to it. Aruba here i come, been cold here in Florida for a week, need some warm weather.

If it's a broken cam, it'd be the first. Well, first I've seen.

I'd be more prone to believing bent valve, broken connecting rod, even a spun bearing, or similar. I highly doubt cam is broken.

I bought and used an ozone generator today on my daughters car. Her sunroof drains in her Rav4 were clogged, the carpet was soaked and smelled bad. After a lot of work fixing / drying / cleaning and airing out with four fans for days, I popped it in there for about 20 minutes (and then followed the air our instructions).

Now it's only been about 7hrs, but at this point I'm calling it a success! If interested, I can chime back in after a few days to report back.

I opened the glove box, raised the headrest a little, opened the arm rest, pulled out the seatbelts and clamped them fully released, stood up the floormats, pulled down the sun visors, etc. to ensure everything got hit when running the unit. I'd recommend doing the same if you get one, it can only help.
