I went by my local Yota dealership today. Needed some fasteners and got my grandson another nifty FJ toy and sadly no new Yota hats that piqued my interest. Once again, my stop over had nothing to do with the parts girl. A week ago there were maybe 8 or 10 tacos. No Tundras. Today>>>>> NIL Tacos as in none like a typical boring, horn blaring 0 to 0 after 90 minutes of kicking a ball around in a World Cup soccer game NIL. But good news.........two new Tunnies! A blue DC and a Mesquite CM. Stevenson's East. Aurora. Post up what you see or don't see at your local dealer Tundra......keep in mind that having the Rocky Mountains does attract 4X4 buyers this time of year over year and this year more folks are willing to pay a premium apparently due to the short supply seen on the lots. BTW, the local Chevy dealer is short on full size Silverados. Has been for a while.

Drove by one dealer 2 days ago. They usually have 30+ tacos and 4runners. Usually 15-30 Tundras. Not a single one of any....... All tacos and 4runners are all presold for a while. Usually 250-300 cars on lot. Maybe 30 max and really 2-5 of the different Toyota cars and small SUV's. Lot is completely bare.....

There where two new 4R's and were sold. Already had temp plates put on...crazy times. There were two used FJ's. One had a $40K+ sticker and a one had a $23K sticker on the window. Prolly high miles. Maybe a nice deal. There was a new Sequoia. Didn't catch the sticker but no doubt crazy $$$.

Went to get my 10,000 mile service done just a few days ago. There were two 4runners ( which may have been sold because they were sitting in an odd spot), zero tacomas and 2 tundras. . . .

Local dealer here in Baton Rouge had a half dozen or so Tundras.....had a really nice Limited 2WD with the Nightshade Package in Wind Chill Pearl. Had it parked right out front for everyone to see.

Would be empty but since most of them have markups of 5 to 10k over MSRP so trucks just sit there waiting for some poor soul to take one up the a$$.

The Tundras that I saw were also in an unusual spot from where new ones are usually displayed. The Jeep dealer down the street still has plenty of inventory. New Jeeps historically sell quite well here as with used. Used Jeep prices are always a bit steep.

Im wondering how close I could get to $45k for my '18 SR5 TRD OR with 27k miles. Would profit around 11k but then capital gains taxes would come into play.

Dealer in my area is down to 3 new vehicles. Honda dealer next door still has a lot of accords on the lot but that’s about it.

Pretty soon the manufacturers might figure out pre-selling like BMW is a more efficient model...

Pre-selling works for customers who are loyal to the brand but it may incentivize new customers to go else where

Was at the dealer last week, no new vehicles, nothing. I asked if they still sold cars? Though there was a limited 4Runner there for $30k with 160,000 miles on it.

you might be right. There are a lot of people that “impulse buy” new cars, meaning very little research, drive a few and sign away $30k+ all in a Saturday. I have many good friends who’ve traded 5-7 years of debt because of a good salesman and a “cool car”. Slowing down the process might be bad for that type of business but I have no sympathy for that.

There was one in my area and I got it! Crazy. 1-2 tundras on a lot.

I was told that they’re buying used trucks and selling them for more than new trucks on the lots.

Funny to see you just posted this...went to get my fuel pump recall fix on Friday and had to take this picture. Usually the left lot is completely filled with Tundras/Tacos. Nothing. All those were customer cars parked after servicing.

Trying to get into a new 2021 tundra from my 2015 tundra and you're right there is no inventory. My auto broker said I might have to wait until 2022's come out to get one. I really wanted to get into a new one before they did away with the V8

No! You just got to do the work and call dealerships. ask about what their inventory is, ask about what’s on freight and ask about what their computers are showing. What is the inbound inventory and the next weeks and months. Sometimes on the computer and I’ll show a letter A or F and I don’t dictate where are the vehicles out in the process like for example is it ordered, is it being made, is it on its way.

I had my brakes done, oil change, and a few other things at my dealership Monday.
Talked with my service guy when I picked it up.

He said they only have 1 new Tundra on the lot.
Not many new other vehicles at all..

He blamed the chip shortage and the lack of workers as the production line is restarting up after Covid.
Every aspect of production; line workers, parts supplies, truck drivers, etc.....

My dealer has zero Tacoma’s and only one Lunar TRD Pro Tundra that look like it was sold. Usually a back lot full of trucks parked so tight that you can’t squeeze between them. They only had a few Cars and two Land Cruzers.

Very few Tundras here in SW FL. And if you can find one that is on it's way to a dealer, some of them are trying to gouge buyers... I found and threw down on a Limited 4X4 Crew cab @ MSRP... Which seems reasonable considering what a good used Tundra is going for. Not much to choose from at all.

I've noticed that when searching on-line that dealers are counting trucks on order as "inventory" now. One of our local dealers show 12 available but only have 2 on the lot.

On a goof yesterday, took a look at Akins inventory. In Winder, GA, They're one of the largest volume dealers for both Ford and Ram and usually have 100's of trucks in stock. There was almost nothing in upper trim levels. One Platinum F150 and one Laramie Ram and obviously not the level of discounting from just a few months ago.
    Amazing!
