    Hi all!

I recently installed my Diamondback HD and have been thinking about ways to mount removable crossbars when I need the space/accessory.

I have come up with the Yakima Baseline Tower, which should fit like the previous Yakima Q-Clips with the Core bars.

Question- assuming there is adequate spacing between the load bars, are there any issues with having the rear of the cargo box stick out approx 16" past the tailgate?

Not sure what your budget is, but I’d suggest mounting Yakima rails with landing pads and skyline towers. Would be a cleaner and more secure rack. Just my $.02

Thanks Dittothat! I looked at that but liked the idea of keeping a clean look when the Yakima system was not in use.

Do you think mounting the rails create a significantly safer solution?

Sorry, just seeing this. Depends on what you’re hauling in the cargo box. If it’s light stuff like just skis or suitcases I don’t think it matters either way. If you’re hauling heavy items then you might want to go with the permanent option. That being said not sure how strong the permanent option is because I believe the highest rating for any Yakima rail product is like 120lbs dynamic force which is very little. These towers are just made of a resin material I believe and could easily snap. I see people driving around with roof top tents all the time using the Yakima products and think to myself “there’s no way that thing is staying put in a collision or hard braking scenario.”

Get the front runner system right from the Diamondback website. Bars remove with loosening a few screws, and then you only have the rails979B41A3-8DE2-4641-B4F9-0FCE2B69B60B.jpg979B41A3-8DE2-4641-B4F9-0FCE2B69B60B.jpg
