Would you change Yokohoma Geo M/T for Nitto Ridge Grappler tires?

    Hello,

Two weeks ago, a buddy of mine put on Nitto Ridge Grapplers on his jeep. Now he's decided to sell the jeep with the original tire/wheel set up. He offered them to me for almost nothing (they have less than 800 miles on them).

Currently, I have 295/70/18 Yokohoma Geolander M/T tires. So now, I have an option to change them out for 295/70/18 Nitto Ridge Grappler tires.

Any thoughts on the difference? Do you think there will be less road noise with the Ridge Grapplers? I know you don't put these tires on for better mpg, but any chance the Nitto's will be a little better? Asking because they are advertised as more road-worthy.

    Thanks :)

Can only speak on the RG’s and I absolutely love mine. I have had many hybrid and AT tires and I would rank the RGs at the top. Never had any Yokohamas however….

What do you use them for? I feel like the RG is a far less aggressive tire than the Geolandar G003, so it might be a better road tire. But the RG’s are actually heavier in that size than the G003

Not to be the forum police or anything, but tire stuff goes here. Tons of great info in here.

I did… Yoko’s were better in mud. The RG’s are far better in all other conditions and are super quiet!

The RG are only quite for the first 15-20k miles. Then they get obnoxiously loud. They got so loud that I took them off early. Will never put them on again.

Rotate ever 5k and all is good with the RG. Got 50k on a set on my 4runner and still not on the wear bars (close, but not yet).

Look at their weight, lighter tire will get better mpg’s every time

I'd buy em for a spare set if the price is that good. When the Yokos go you've already got rubber you can use.

I made the switch to the Nitto tires. Not a huge surprise, but a significantly quieter ride than the Yokohama...almost as quiet as the stock tires.

I had ridge grappler, good on-road performance however, if your offroad in rocks it's going to lack the ability to grab on rocks in harder condition, I personally would keep the geolandar g003 MT myself but it's what your needs that matters end of the day.
