Car dealers provide the worst buying experience of any product. The only time I go to buy a product for an advertised price and it comes with a bombardment of hidden fess and extra cost to pad profit margins for the business.

If I go to my department store to buy a new flat screen tv I pay the price advertised on the shelf plus tax and go on my way. Not at the dealership however

Twice I had helped siblings purchase a vehicle and the tricks come out every time.

My sister bought a Nissan that magically came with $2,000 dealer add ons when we showed up. It was for oil changes, paint protection film and a gps tracking/anti theft device. After 20 mins I told the sales manger look we live 2 hours away I am not driving back here for oil changes every few months. My sister works at the police station and if the car is not there it’s in her garage. If someone steals it we have bigger problems. They were adamant they couldn’t take this “package” off. Then I told him it’s an upsale and its bullshit. Long story short we didn’t pay for it but it was a 2 hour fight with them.

My brother recently bought a slightly used Ford that magically same with $1400 worth of “aftermarket”. It had just been traded in and the techs changed the oil, air filter, and put on rear brake pads. To them this was worth $1,400. I laughed at him and said the truck is 100% stock, a 2016 that has been “on the market” for 6 years. I said show me $1,400 worth of aftermarket items in this truck. He responded with well we did all this work to it and my brother looked him dead in the eye and said I didn’t ask you to do that so I’m not paying for it you choose to do that work. Long story short after another hour long fight they took the $1,400 off and we bought it.

Everytime I walk into a dealer it feels like a scam in progress. The day Toyota starts selling factory direct is the day I start buying a lot of vehicles from them. With the internet, online financing, ect there is no need for brick and mortar dealer locations to sell cars. Carvana has been proving that although they are not doing is hot right now due to bad decisions in growth ect

This isn’t 1970 anymore. Let me get online order my truck from Toyota, finance it through Toyota and have them deliver it to my driveway or local hub for pickup. I need no assistance from undereducated “salesman”, I need no games and inflated interest rates from finance mangers. Just let me buy the damn thing and you dealers stick to robbing people on service and maintenance cost.

I'm also in NM and found great luck in Alamogordo @ Desert Sun Toyota. Buying my '22 from them was a great experience. Just FYI for future reference
