Finally got around to glassing the surfboard that I made for my daughters. I didn't want to do the glass but haven't found anyone else to do it for me.
The hollow, 8'5" longboard is Alaskan yellow cedar, curly redwood and wine tank redwood. The wine tanks were from the Mirassou Winery and were built in 1890. I have a feeling @Bob surfs, he might appreciate this.:notsure:

Thanks Mike. I honestly don't know how many hrs went into it. Most days I could only glue up 4 pieces then wait for the glue (Titebond II) to set. It's been sitting for a couple yrs now and my youngest has just taken up surfing seriously so...... time for her to put away her soft top.

Don't. LOL For every one of us who has made something gorgeous, there are about 5-10 other pictures we DON'T take of the screwups. :D

And in my case, that's considering the fact I grew up watching my Dad do this stuff. The only advantage I have, sort of, is the fact that while I may not have experience with every tool, I know what a lot of them do and why you'd use them (e.g., a biscuit joiner or a dado blade). Doesn't mean I'm any better at using them. LOL

I've never surfed and I don't know much about woodworking, but that is functional art! Great job.

Here is another project I took up. I need a mobile stand for my band saw and took a shot at fastener less construction. Made this with what I believe are called finger joints. No screws or nails except for the wheels and the top that the bandsaw sits on.F3E5B5CF-9EB6-4826-A2FA-5B3FA6961751.jpg0FF22137-CC40-43C5-859A-24D578E3691F.jpg

She's got a really nice saw. I wish they'd been making those when I bought my saw. As it turned out I got the last year American made Powermatic 5hp.

    And so it begins.
I'm not going to pretend to get anywhere close to the level of craftsmanship you folks are at, I just want to make the ol' block presentable again.
First I scrubbed down the block with Dawn and a scrubbing pad to get a couple of layers of crude and the old grime off it. Picked up an orbital sander the other day and started with a multipack of paper.

Having to work on my front porch right now, no power in the shed yet.

Yeah...I'm going to need more sanding disk.

Some great talent in here. Makes me want to go back to the shop some more. We were given this end table that was in my wife’s family. Clearly it had seen better days between the top and bottom shelf coming into pieces and massive paint globs.

I was asked to try and repair it and put it in our daughters room before she was born. I gave it a shot. Not perfect by any means but like to think it turned out alright.

My Dad’s bday is tomorrow and he steady works out of his truck as a production consultant. Mom snuck me my Dad’s work laptop dimensions. He drives a 2.5 gen 1794 so I ensured it fit in my rig. Built him a steering wheel laptop desk. Even stained it 1794 brown. I hope he likes and uses it steady :D

My wife was wanting a computer desk for when she works from home a day or two a week. So I built a walnut butcher blocked top. She said she wanted distressed black legs.

    Finished a little slingshot.

Made a slim, curvy, backyard oak last weekend and finished oiling this week.

Rasps, files, knives, hand sanded to 3k, Danish Oil 4-5 coats.

Added banding grooves, brass lanyard hole and branded makers mark on butt end.
