After installing method con 6’s wheels 18X9 +18 offset and cooper discovered a/t3 xlt all terrain tires my truck has a wobble. The steering wheel starts to wobble at about 54 mph and continues until I get to about 65 mph. The wobble gets more intense when I brake from 65 down to 53.

I took the tires and wheels back and they said they were off balance. Got them balanced by their “best balancer” and the wobble is still there. Any idea what it could be? It didn’t start until I changed wheels and tires so I’m assuming it has to be them. Is this common with tundras?

    None, yet....
No, if it started when you changed wheels and tires, why would it be a tundra issue? You’re sure they didn’t change anything else? If the wheels and tires are balanced and you still have an issue, rotate them. If you still have the issue, then they may have tightened the lugs too tight and warped the brakes. To confirm this, throw the stock wheels/tires back on and check. If it’s still there, someone introduced an issue into your truck. If it goes away, tell them to road force balance your wheels/tires and/or have them replace the tires.

I have those exact tires on mine and its a smooth ride at any speed. You might take them to a new place and have them balance them to see it that fixes the issue.

The stock wheels and tires aren’t balanced anymore because I swapped the sensors. Any other way to check the brakes?

Road force balancing is a good idea but it didn’t solve my issue. I replied to you in another thread.

That fixes most issues in most cases but I have seen where balancing machines will go bad and throw everything off and the technicians wont even know until they come to calibrate the machine.......

Some guys on here have felt this vibrating feeling when taking off or on highway they are metal spacers that go above the drive shaft carrier bearing, they eliminate this wobble

I will add this to the list. I still think it’s mostly the wheels or tires. It’s not necessarily when speeding up though. It’s just in between about 53-65. And I feel it even more when braking in that speed range.

Is this really that easy to do? Is there a way to have the brakes inspected to see this?

Went back in to check the alignment, the toe on the front passenger side was off. The front 2 tires were balanced good though. They fixed the alignment and now the truck drives much more straight. I would say the wobble reduced about 60-70 percent. So I think that was a big piece of it.

No more severe shaking when braking and only moderate every once in a while between 55-65. I could just be really picky about it now too because I’m so focused on it. I still think maybe the tires are a little rough riding. So I might have discount swap out the tires for a smoother riding one and I’m going to install the carrier spacer.

Are you lifted in the rear? If not I wouldn't bother with a carrier bearing drop kit.

I’m lifted an inch. Toytec’s main mechanic said it can’t hurt and could get rid of some wobble. It’s only a 1/2 inch drop.

It's usually a vibration that you can feel in the driveline and not a wobble, especially during accelerating. But yeah, if you're lifted a inch it can't hurt.

Skipped through a lot of this but I had a set of BFF ko2’s. Always had great luck w bfg’s. This last set would not balance, no matter what. 1 tire was bad. 2015 Silverado turned out to be a lemon anyway and Chevy bought it back. I ate the cost of the rims n tires. But..... it got me into a tundra.
My next tires are going to be coopers or general at2’s.

Not sure I’m going to check tomorrow. I think I’ll swap them out for nitto too! Heard lots of people say they’re very smooth and easier to balance.

Great. I just ordered a set of Cooper at3 xlt's and sounds like they may have balancing issues.
