Wiring help req: Cargo/deck lighting wiring schematic ...

So you wanna use your "real" rock lights as just additional/courtesy lighting, when you're off-roading at the local mall or Starbucks, huh?


Sounds good.
Just don't forget to use current-limiting diodes, so you don't end up back feeding the real "courtesy" lighting circuit(s) when you throw your real rock light switch ON.
What I mean in this scenario:
You have power running to your rock-light (RL) switch, which feeds the lights with power when turned on.
Now you tap into the courtesy light wire and hook it up to the RLs as well.
When you unlock/open a door RLs come on - great!
Now, when you're driving and you flip your separate RL switch to ON, the courtesy light(s) also come on.
Current-limiting diodes take care of this, and allow you to "not" back feed a circuit with another power source.
Hope this makes sense...otherwise if you don't care how they all behave, then go at it as you were.

Can anyone help me figure out the color of this cargo bed spot wire in the engine compartment? I’m trying to wire led lights inside my ARE commercial cap and it would be easier to start by the engine and run it under the truck than to start inside the cab. There was already a wire run by the cap installer for it's brake light. If the cargo light wire is in this bundle I could follow the same path.
