So I did this mod, directions were great. I used the Qi Wireless Fast Charging Pad Station Mat 10W, the first one worked for a week. The second on two days. Hard to return as removing them takes a lot of cutting. Think to try one more time. Sounds like I need to try the Choetech .

I haven't had any problems with my Choetech - it's only been on for 3 weeks, but others have had theirs longer.

9 months, my 3-coil Choetech works fine, but I prefer my wired 27W Aukey, 50% charge in 30min.

Good to hear about the success rate so far of the cheotech. Been wanting to do this mod for a while but I use car play and have to plug in, so until I can get wireless CarPlay I may hold off since I doubt I’ll use it

Installed a Mophie yesterday. I have had the charging pad in the center console (orginizing tray) for while. Just finally got around to installing it to work with the center phone holder. Fingers crossed.

I just picked up a pixel 3xl.....first phone with wireless charging. It looks like the there is a 5 coil cheotech out there, but it looks like it will only charge with 7.5w of power per the reviews.

Anyone find a 10-15w qi charger that will work well for the mod?

I bought the Cheotech charger with the intent of install in/under the console trey, but was screwing around today in the truck and temporarily did this. Maybe another option.
    IMG_3258.jpg

Which got me thinking of installing over/under this location or under the front part of the console and either plugging into the front port or the one inside the console. I ran the wire underneath to the front and plugged it in there since I was running out to lunch. Putting the phone on it, like it is, with an Apple leather case, it didn't slide or budge at all.

I have a round one in that I already used for in the house, it works but it doesn't have enough coverage. I looked hard at the QI but went with this Choetch since it has more than one coil.

    I'll install this weekend.

I did this mod a couple years ago with a choetech 2 coil. I have always had issues with it connecting and maintaining connected. I have an samsung Galaxy s7 witb a spigen slim case. It charges better without the case. Does anyone know of a reasonably priced multi coil charger that may provide me with better charging thru my case? I'm not willing to part with having a case on, so sometimes I end up plugging it on to charge. I would be willing to swap out the old charger for a new one, and maybe relocate the current one to a different spot.

I just installed the Choetch 5 coil I’ll let you know if the phone moving is a problem. I had the same problem with my last one.

I have the rubber insert on the center console tray with a thinner case and mine works well.

It should be better for charging with cases as it minimizes the space between the coil and phone. The diy method still leaves a pretty big space because of the ridges in the tray.
