As always, lots of opinions. Seemed to work very well for me engaging it when on icy inclines this week. I didn’t run it full time but I will say for the few spots I engaged it I found it to be more effective than just 2WD.

Good enough for getting onto the interstate without 4hi and helping around town satisfies me.

Can Auto LSD be used in 4hi? Reading through the manual above it seems to be for 2wd only

Which oil should I use in my AutoLSD? Do I need to add friction modifier?

I ended up installing a real mechanical LSD in both my 2010 and just got my 2017 back with a Powertrax LSD. The Open diff with the auto LSD is piss poor. It’s also only intended to be used as a low speed traction aid. For it to even properly engage you have to keep the RPMs hovering in the 1600-1800 rpm range and as it senses the slip it will then start braking the slipping wheel. It is not a high speed traction aid, it won’t do anything but allow the slipping wheel to spin for a longer period before cutting in with the intrusive traction control.

A true mechanical LSD is what these trucks need and should have gotten from the factory. It makes it so much more enjoyable on slippery road surfaces, from taking off in the rain to snow covered roads. It’s an upgrade I’d suggest to anybody.

My $0.02, but the Auto LSD generally works well for me when the normal traction control does not. Over the last 2-3 weeks, I've had to drive up and over a little north-facing hill that's been icy most mornings. Lots of slipping with the normal traction controls on, and Auto LSD has had no issues. Duratrac tires and not in 4WD.

I have Auto LSD on my '05, as well as good tires. Works great in the snow.

The true LSD is purely mechanical and will transfer power automatically when one wheel slips. You can use it in conjunction with Auto LSD if you wanted which should greater aid traction in low speed situations than just either one working by itself.

Good to know we have options. Wondering if there is 4auto option that we can add? Like in the Chevy’s?

"push this button if you want to drift"

no, wait, for that I have to hold the button for 5 seconds....

don't listen to my advice, I don't know what I am talking about, but I do like to do doughnuts in the snow, and I know what buttons to push for that!!

    this is an interesting thread!
