Just ordered two of these for $20 I figure you could use the fuel for fire starter as well if needed

I will be parking my recently acquired 2021 Tundra Platinum to keep it out of the road salt/brine as its my forever truck at 58 and driving my 2023 Toyota 4 Runner TRD Off Road Premium which is fun to drive too!

    This is a great thread!!!

    Definitely Santa approved... :santa2:

So, I fire up the elves and get them working on all the gifts that need to be delivered!

I then make sure the reindeer are all in great shape and well nourished!

I then apply a healthy coating of Musher's Secret on the reindeers' hooves to keep them from getting from getting stuck or torn off in the ice!

Fortunately the sleigh doesn't need washer fluid, fluid film, chains or recovery gear, so that part is an easy one for me!!!!

Next, I get myself up to winter weight :muscleflexing: (For those that don't know, I spend most of the year in near peak physical condition; then fatten up for the winter to honor the tradition of Santa having a belly like a bowl full of jelly :jellydance:)

Lastly, I check my list not once but twice (not caring who's naughty or nice), to see who's on the Tundra's.Com Secret Santa List :santa2:

I'd still post some "no rodents" signs nearby, just to be on the safe side.

    Ahh yes, winter…

air down the KO2’s.. 37 front and 40 rear
Had the truck oil sprayed for the 2nd time in a year in August. I’ll spot spray as needed going into this winter, re coat the entire truck next year again.
Grease all zercs, especially U joints.
I always run 4wd every 2 weeks or so to make sure everything moves as it should.
I recently got a noco portable booster, definitely going to be keeping that in the truck if needed.
Installed a start x remote starter a few months ago, good to let it idle for 5min, melt the windshield a bit.
I usually like to run seafoam in the gas tank in the winter.. helps burn a bit cleaner with truck idling to warm up..
thinking I’ll add a sand bag or 2 to the truck bed as well for some added traction.
    Is it spring yet?

Check tire air pressure, sand bags in the bed, and fluid film touch up.

I have a set that I bought from Walmart a few years ago. I have grandkids on the other side of a mountain pass that will get shut down in the winter and require you to have chains to go through. I've never had to use them, and hopefully never will.

I used to drive a fuel delivery truck that I had to chain up a dozen times a day to get to houses in the country. I hate chains. if a link breaks or they come loose, the chain slapping against your fender will cause hundreds of dollars of body damage in seconds.

    My list:
    1. Beanie & winter jacket & gloves
    2. Winter box in the bed (chains, jack, pull strap, small plywood boards, axe, mini shovel, etc)
    3. Brand new tires, wipers, cabin & engine air filters, winter grade wiper fluid
    4. Big ass flashlight!
    5. Adjust my driving style for winter roads & black ice (never tailgate, watch out for chains/debris on roadway, stay as far away from big rigs as the road will allow, & pay attention for amateur winter drivers in Honda civics & the like)
    6. Blankets & towels & lots of water on board

    Np....see pic for brand info
    Very easy to install
(I keep a floor jack in my winter box
& jack the rear end at the pumpkin
Saves time & no back/forth or repositioning)
I've never needed to actually use them though, just on board in case CHP or OSP ask....the michelin agilis cross climates produce top shelf results on wintery roads

The chains are a knock-off brand pretending to be like konigs....I had similar konig chains
for my 2020 tacoma a few years back, but never used those ones either (also ran michelin cross climates on the taco), so I opted to cheap out on chains with the tundra

Can I ask how many sand bags would be recommended? This is my first winter with this truck and the previous owner had installed air-bags - would that make any difference to how many sand bags? Thanks.

Build a winter box (with Jack, chains, tools, etc) & place it in the tail end of your bed.
The added weight will do the trick & you'll have any needed tools for 4th season driving ready to go/on board20231205_131857.jpg

No difference with or without airbags other than the suspension isn't as soft and forgiving, so may be a bit slicker on ice.

I use at least 2x50lb bags on each side; usually 3 or 4 bags; so 150-200lbs per side. It needs to be a meaningful amount of weight to noticeably increase traction and improve handling IMO.

An additional advantage is if you get stuck on a slick surface you can steal a bag or two to dump on the surface.

The plastic bags break down over time, so I drag them out and use the sand on my driveway throughout the winter and just replace it.

I have dedicated rims with snow tires mounted and some weight in the back. Same with the wife’s Subaru but no added weight.
