So, digging through Craigslist a few days ago, I came upon a set of Winjet Tails in Black/Smoke for a 2014-2017 Tundra.
Seemed like a good deal, so I jumped on them.
However, despite being "brand new", etc the driver side blinker is defective...
Is this fixable (i can apply 12V in my shop across the contacts and get illumination, but when wired to the truck...NADA) or do I sentence them to the dumpster and move on?
    Thanks folks

I don't know if it's fixable or not, but I have the exact same tail lights and have had zero problems with them. I actually like the way they look alot more than Spyders, although Spyders are also nice. I haven't experienced any moisture intrusion whatsoever, and I wash my truck often on top of it being a really, really wet winter here.

I would do a bit of troubleshooting - If you have a multimeter check the post that provides an interrupted signal to the turn signal. If you don't just plug in the opposite tail light and see if it functions properly. I'd go as far as separating the assembly before I tossed them.. Good luck man, I know this wasn't much help. =\

    Mike,
I tried this already, and same result. I thought that maybe the LED bank was faulty but 12v across the pins illuminated them. I do not get the fast blink warning either, which would indicate that the resistor is faulty? back to stock lights and NO problems, oh my.....

Is it possible the input is reversed? IE providing power to the ground on the LED Panel, and Ground to the Power side?

Good point, I also tried that (removing the plug and reversing the LED plug-in inside the housing ), polarity was the first thing I checked...to no avail.....gggrrrrrrr
Contacts appear to be good too, 12V across the pins = lights on???...BUT not on the truck

Check all fuses? Use test light to confirm signal throughout the wire past plug on both truck and light side of connector?

Hmmm. . Don't toss them, there has to be a way to figure it out. If they light up with power they still work, is the truck sending power or did a fuse blow during installation or something?

Yes sir, been there too....., same results......
Just to clarify....signal from truck is OK (connected passenger side assembly to drivers side and no problems, did the same with the 'working Winjet'.
Stock lights refitted back onto truck and no problems.
LED's appear OK and all lit with a 12V shop supply.
    I am bamboozled....

That's weird. I wonder if WinJet has good customer service.

Did you try the driver's side (faulty tail) on the passenger side of the truck to see if it would work?

Could be a ground issue for what ever reason within the light. When you put 12V across, I'm assuming the ground and power are direct from the power source? Take 2 jumper wires and jumper power to power from the harness and the second manual ground from chassis to ground on light plug.

I know it sounds weird... but I've seen some of the factory LED lights on our work trucks have ground issues on the utility beds.

If no luck, it's got to be a wiring mistake within the light...

Sorry I had a long day. So weird, it doesn't seem to make any sense.

    Good point @Midnighttaco08 .

Good luck. I wonder if you could separate the tails, remove the LED diffuser, and install a new LED strip where the original is?

    Folks,

I much appreciate your comments and suggestions so far, BUT...

erm......OK, what is confusing me is......

12V DC supply in my shop....red and black, as long as the polarity is correct, the LED's fully illuminate!!!!!!!

I may be wrong here, but in the truck, turn signal on = alternating on/off power supply to the light bulb?

I understand the resistor feature for turn signals when using LED (to fool the light controller; bulb out, etc), however, if the resistor/LED was faulty, then surely I would get an indication on the console...fast blink, to tell me a bulb was out???black

It's a two pin plug with no ground?. red = + and black = -

    Oh my.......

Yes you would. But my guess is, there could be a wire not connected within the circuit board on the light. (Possibly got disconnected during shipping or manufacturing and whatnot) LEDs require a circuit board and unlike the factory lighting, is a bit more complex.

But... there's always that thought of "that's why they were on Craigslist" type of thing :anonymous:

    FIXED!!!!!

After much head scratching and gnashing of teeth......there was a loose connection (LED harness) on the blinker plug inside the light body. When I locked in the connector it was working loose. A little manipulation with a flat blade driver squeezed the connector closed.....wohoooo......

    Perseverance DOES pay dividends!

Glad to see you were able to figure it out. I've go the same ones. The stock red lenses just stood out against the black a little too much for me. These look like they belong.
