I'm looking at adding a set to my 2017 tundra but I have heard the in channel ones can cause issues with the automatic Windows. Are the stick on ones better? What's everybody using as far as type and brand?

    Thanks,
    Terry

I have AVS in-channels. No issues yet. Had them for years on another truck and never had issues. Imo, I believe they look better that the stick on ones.

I've never had any and probably never will, but if I were to get some, I'd get the seamless ones.

I had avs in channel on my 2000 tundra. Put them on when it was new, still had them when I sold it last year. They had gotten loose in the last couple years, was a little annoying when the Windows were down. I am going to get a set for my new truck. In channel only. Tape on style don't look nearly as clean and if you want to take them off, you've got a sticky mess to deal with. Could damage the paint to.

I have the AVS stick on ones on my 04 Tundra. I have had them on about 9 months. So far so good.

I have the in channel weather techs and have had some issues with the tundra but I didn't have any of those issues with my tacoma. The issues is they stick in cold weather so you have to push the button abunch to get them unstuck. Only happened in extreme cold weather but never happened on my Tacoma. Not sure If it is because they are new. But I wouldn't get the stick on the in channel are the only way to go for me.

AVS stick-on visors here. I've never had any issue with them since 2010 (I tap them pretty hard to get ice off in winter). I went with them on the recommendation of the local tint shop where I got my windows tinted.

I prefer the stick-on type. I look at how tight the windows fit the channels and I don't see how putting something extra in there will not over-work the motors that move the windows. The fact that not too many people have experienced issues speaks volumes for the Toyota quality, not for the design problem with in-channel type. And yes, there are some people reporting problems with in-channel type (look it up) with in-channel type (windows not closing all the way, etc.).

I use AVS stick ons. I've had issues with in channels over time no matter what the brand was. AVS is the oldest brand out there. I'd go with the tried and true.

AVS is the way to go whether in channel or outside.

Yeah Joon, which ones are those. That's a a nice clean look. With a good tint on my black truck, you'd hardly notice them! I might have to change my mind on the stick on's. There are some drawbacks to the in channel, dirt gets in between things and the weather seal could get smooshed. That could be why the ones on my old truck got loose. I doubt that the acrylic shrank.

Just looked at carid, Lund makes some that look like those. Looks like avs and Lund are the same company to.

I have always used stick on, after 10 years or so the glue will dry up and they are prone to cracking easily. I'm sure this goes for both. At least the stick one you can clean off the old glue and put new ones on. I can't imagine trying to get the glue out from the seam. That would cause a headache and possible scratch up the window frame area. Has anyone else replaced an inseam before?

If I'd seen that before I might have gotten the cm. The 6.5 ft. Bed and the looks of the dc did it for me. Much better looking in my opinion. The length of and square back of the cab on the cm combined with the shorty bed makes them look disproportionate. Kind of like a car that's missing the trunklid! New mod for the cm guys.:hattip::thumbsup:

Post some pics and let us know how they fit when you get them on. I'm leaning towards the same ones. I like to be able to crack the Windows even if it's raining. Here in Colorado we can get a lot of spring and summer storms. I missed having them last year.
