depends on a couple of things - interior color and where you live, just got the wife's subaru done at 25% because the interior is a light grey - will probably get the tundra done at 35% because the interior is dark, and living in WA the long winter - going too dark looks like your driving in a cave for 5 months

I'm in Georgia. It's definitely not legal, but I haven't had any problems. I had the windshield tinted on my last truck from 9+ yrs w/o issue. Of course, I'm sure I just jinxed myself.

You're right, I don't drive the truck alot at night, but not bc of the tint, we just drive my wife's car most of the time when we're together. The tint isn't as bad as people think it would be. Most are surprised when they ride with me for the first time.

It's legal to do limo in my area on SUVs and trucks, only back windows though. Fronts max you can do is 35%.

I never imagined how different it would be without the windshield tinted. I've had the new truck almost a month now and I decided not to do the windshield on this one bc of the auto headlight feature, and I miss it tremendously. On this truck, I have 5% on all windows and nothing on the windshield...but, I'm pretty sure I would rather have a tinted windshield vs auto headlights. I should've listened to the wife when she said "just do the windshield now and save yourself from having to bring it back later"...damn, she knows me to well. Now, I'm fighting the urge just out of spite. LOL

All of my vehicles have the windshield tinted. I feel like I'm burning behind an untinted window now.

25% on my fronts seems to match my rears perfectly. Technically illegal here in the PRK, but haven't gotten dinged and I see much darker driving around.

rear factory tint is around 35%.

if it were 20%, then it would be illegal in many states.

it looks to be the same, but it is not. the front windshield allows a ton of light into the front of the truck. this means that you have to put darker tint on the front sides to make it look the same, but they are not the same percentage. the rear window of the truck is also tinted which makes the rear sides look darker.

for example, I have the same percentage tint on my front and rear windows, but the front looks lighter because of how much light is coming through the windshield.

I think this is regarding adding tint to a non tinted car. Factory tint on the rear/sides may not apply to this.

these laws are about the visible light transmission percentage. whether or not there is factory tint, there is a minimum VLTP that is allowed per state.

in texas, we can go as low as 25% on both front and rears. non tinted windows still have some % of VLT. it is about 74%. so the lowest legal tint that can be put on in texas is:
    • rear: factory tint of 35% x aftermarket tint of 72% = 25%
    • front: non tinted window of 74% x aftermarket tint of 34% = 25%

I am just arguing numbers because that is what matters if a light meter is put to your window. however, put on whatever % tint that you think looks good :)
