I have watched most youtubers driving reviews.

All of them said non-hybrid model is powerful enough and ride comfort & handling are much better than the previous generation one.

But most of them said they hear really loud wind noise from the side window. Front window seems fine with acoustic glass but there was a lot of wind noise coming in from the side(maybe A pillar area?)

All of them drove pre production models so hopefully toyota can insulate the cabin little better but it worries me.

Tundra/Sequoia are pretty close and my Sequoia gets a bit of a whistle noise around the upper part of the front doors at 80mph+ when there is any kind of side wind. Tail or head wind, no noise. Just something about the crossing airflows at high speed. I am rarely at that speed so I don't care. If that is what they refer to, then no big deal.

Well my 06 4runner and 2016 Tundra have more wind noise than other autos I have had, so I would not be surprised if the new Tundra has some as well.

Yeah that sucks. I test drove f150,sierra,tundra before i bought my f150(first aluminum body year) Tundra was LOUD comparing to other two. So much engine and road, wind noise.

That was why I went with f150. Then I sold my F150 and got myself a highlander. To be honest I hated my highlander. It was boring which i knew before but man it was so loud.
It felt like there is no insulation around A pillar and side window area.

Now I sold my highlander and ordered sr5 offroad 6.5 bed.

Hopefully toyota did a better job insulating the cabin but according to youtube reviews(pre production of course) I am not too optimistic.

If my tundra is too loud, I am going to spend money and sound proof the whole cabin.

i wonder if it is because it is a prototype, if not this is very concerning as I like the cab to be extremely quiet… they mention the off road tires , but i also believe the pano adds to road noise in the cabin . Sure wish you could get the upper trims (Pro, platinum, 1794) without the pano.

Other reviewers who drove non trd version also said he can hear wind noise from the side window. Yes it is pre production model so hopefully they fix it but I doubt it to be honest :(

    Let's wait and see!

I didn't go limited because I don't want any noise and headache from pano roof.

    Thanks for the video.

I have seen most and nobody mentions wind noise.

In one video, my dream Tundra (DC SR5 TRD S) was up to 85mph on the highway and I thought it was quite silent at that speed.

The vast majority of videos I have watched commented on how much quieter the new tundra is over the last on the highway.. seems likely a non issue and not something worth ditching the truck over.

Lets hope toyota put in different type of weatherstrips to test them out.

I already ordered one so was little worried.

More than a few reviewers pointed this out(same driver side windown).

I doubt these all new Tundras will be noisier than the current 14 year old generation. Y’all likely are just used to having the engine drown some of that out.

Just picked up my 2022 Tundra CrewMax. Yup. Wind noise. It sounds like its the top back corner of the front door. Need to spend some time with some tape to figure it out exactly where its coming from. The door seal is soft and very “loose” in this corner. Could be the mirror. Could be the door seal.

It sounds like a “white noise generator”. Not loud. You hear it above 40 mph.

This is my fifth Tundra. My 2018 was quieter when I dropped it off for trade in. Even my 2007 FJ with 300k on it has less wind noise than this 2022.

Next time you get a chance try folding the mirror in while driving to check if the wind noise goes away. The switch should work even while driving.

Just did the fold a mirror test (SR5 so roll down the window and yank it in).

Still the same noise. I am thinking it is the seal. It is -10 Celsius (14 F) today and the rubber is still super soft.

I will try and post some pictures of where I think the issue is.

I haven’t had any wind noise. On my limited. What speed does it start?

Noise starts around 40 mph. It’s not loud. Trying to describe it. It’s like fine sand going through a central vacuum hose.

Wind direction affects it. Today we have a strong North wind and it was noticeable at 30mph drying into it. Easier to hear with less road noise. With the wind pushing behind it was less noticeable.

I’m thinking the fix will be some 3M double sided tape in the right location.

I need to tape up the door seams and figure out the location. It is cold today so I will try later in the week.

Our 2015 Sequoia does that too but we don't mind as it's hardly consistent and, like you said, only with strong crosswind. My Tundra doesn't have wind noise but then again I'm too busy blastin tunes to care

ah I had a whistle at 70mph that went away when the mirrors were folded. It wasn’t noticeable unless radio was off. This sounds different. Thanks for checking.

I test drove a 2WD TRD Sport the other day and noticed some wind noise what seemed to be the upper corner. Overall interior was still was quieter than my 2019.

Figured it out. It is the window seal.

Soon as I said vacuum the wife had ideas of house work. So I took a roll of tape and went for a drive.

    540BD019-A9EF-44EA-8704-DF446E4AA6DD.jpg

Took the tape and started sealing stuff up. I did notice a wave in the seal at the corner that stuck out. I thought that would be the root cause yet it was not. You can see it pop up under the tape.

    7C64526F-2794-453A-B32C-5825405D214E.jpg

This made the noise go away. So now I start removing tape until the noise comes back.

    87183587-BE60-460B-9993-1EAB04F854D2.jpg

This strip of tape between the seal and door frame eliminated the noise. I can still roll the window up and down.

Not sure of the permanent fix.

Who has Mike Sweers phone number??

Fantastic job! Light Toyota up on Facebook, Twitter, Google, everywhere. Email corporate. Tell you dealer. Let's help them get a TSB out asap to fix this on already delivered trucks and eliminate it on upcoming ones.

Just went for a drive and my tape blew off at 60 mph. Now that I know 100% for sure it’s the window seal I started pushing the seal from the inside at the back top corner. I could make the wind noise go away by pressing up and out. And can also make it whistle. And make it louder.

    Looks like a design issue.

I will talk with my dealer in a couple days. I know Toyota will correct this.2639C254-CFEB-4C04-93B1-B9ED715CFDCD.jpg
