Hi all, my wife's 2018 Sequoia Platinum has an auto up/down switch for the real tailgate window. I'm wondering if that switch would be a plug/play replacement for my 2016 Tundra Platinum's rear window or is there some sort of software involved?

    Anyone tried that yet?

Probably wouldnt need SW, but probably will need coding or parameters changed to tell the BCM/door module it's not momentary.

Gotcha, that's what I meant by "software". Is recoding a difficult thing? I'm a good wrench turner and electrical guy, but don't know much about coding and computer systems on these vehicles.

You *might* be able to via techstream.

I have techstream and this is definitely not possible with it unfortunately.

haha. I don’t even know what techstream is, so probably not an option.

I’m old school and was hoping it was just a function built into the switch vs any sort of computer involvement.

are there any Toyota tech guys on this forum that might know? I came from TacomaWorld and there were several on that site that knew the truck inside and out.

    Short answer is no.

This is from a 2019 Sequoia wiring diagram. The button has an AutoUp AutoDown as well as Up and Down, but it is all controlled by the "Back door ECU".

The Tundra is just run off an Up,Down a switch that controls some relays and makes the window move up and down.

Its more than programming and code, a whole physical ECU is added in the Sequoia for the "back door" that the Tundra does not have

Oh wow. Thanks of the comprehensive/definitive reply! I guess I'll be sticking with manual up/down function.

Its never as easy as it should be...right?!
