I'd like to point out that someone out there will likely have a differing opinion than you. Yes, I'm talking to YOU.

Attacking them in any way is not a good answer to their differing opinion.

I apologize. I absolutely don't mind when people disagree with me, and I like being proven wrong and challenging my beliefs. I do get pretty defensive when people equate a difference of opinion to something like intelligence or politics, and I'm quick to go on the attack when people make negative implications or personal attacks.

In short, I have no problem when people tell me I'm wrong or disagree with my opinions, it's just the level of respect that comes with that disagreement or criticism that gets me going. I am aware that this is my biggest weakness.

Everyone has room for improvement. The challenge is recognizing those spots in ourselves and working on it, instead of pointing it out in others.

Division comes from the latter. And also from dividends and quotients.

I can accelerate 0-20 in under 20 seconds with 5 adults and 2 weeks long beer supply for all of them in my Tundra, on a pathway where Tesla has to be dropped to the start line from a helicopter. At the finish line Tundra's interior will all be soaked up in a spilled beer (and pee/poo, perhaps) and that's about it, while Tesla will probably catch fire due to battery blown up by some Tundra-minor road imperfections.

You see, it depends where you prefer to accelerate? ;)

Moving forward maybe we can apply the saying "praise in public; criticize in private.”

OK...is there, or has there even been, a gas tax related refund?

So, quick question... what equals proof for any of us regardless of which side of the fence you play on?

Folks here will have to forgive my ignorance on the subject, but how does an article by Tesla or any other company (again I'm not arguing whether or not it's accurate) provide proof or validation of the article's claim? How does an article that is written and published by a battery company provide proof or validation of the fact that company is adhering to certain standards, claims or business practices?

All I'm saying is that quoting what COULD be deemed propaganda or quoting information found in an article on the internet as 'proof' or 'fact' just because its there, doesn't necessarily make that bit of information true.

When it's an industry and government accepted report and the company adheres to all regulatory and inspection requirements... it's proof.

I assure you, I didn't just go and "write" the Tesla website or the hundred-page-long industry accepted report.

Based on these standards how are we to ever accept anything?

Third party verification. By a competent, legitimate third party. That's the hard part.

One little example: when diesel fuel was regulated to change to ULSD 20 or so years ago, it was based on a report on vehicle emissions that "mistakenly" reported certain diesel emissions by an increase of 300%... It was that same report that keeps the US auto MFG from building a plethora of diesel powered passenger vehicles due to stricter emissions on those diesel vehicles than anywhere in the world at the time. It's why we don't have a diesel tundra..

The "mistake" has been reported, but the legislation has not changed.

Just so we are clear... I wasn't pointing my statement directly as you, nor did I say that you wrote that specific article. I was just making a point. I respect your opinion and the fact I'm here means I take the time to read or listen to what other folks have to say about various topics.

I hope that as folks age and continue their path through life they continue to talk (even argue), research, remember, and attempt to learn from not only what technology and the future can bring, but also from what the past has taught us.

Just because the government is the one doing a study or producing a report, doesn't make the results or the information it contains factual per se.

I can develop a theory (about anything), conduct a study or produce a report to confirm or dispel said theory. If I leave out exculpatory information or fail to use that information in my formularies, calculations, and research, I can produce a report or draw a conclusion that appears factual but in truth is extremely deceiving.

    Well said.

Furthermore, "studies" are paid for to find a specific result.

Once upon a time "smoking" (tobacco) was deemed safe by "official sources".

As to the legit question, how are we to trust anything? That's an excellent question. When surrounded by lies, half truths, and paid-for-results, how are we to tell what's real and what's not?

From my perspective, anything "official" is likely false, if not the downright opposite of reality. And the more the narrative is pushed, the more likely it is to be completely and utterly false.

And if it's being attacked by the mainstream, odds are pretty high it's something true they are trying hard to suppress.

    Welcome to the misinformation age.

I'd like to add, this misinformation apparently isn't anything new.

Presumably Mark Twain is attributed to saying, "If you don't read the newspaper, you are uninformed. If you do read the newspaper, you are misinformed."

What's new is people are waking up to the wool that's been over our eyes for a very long time.

While I agree, in principal, to everything you guys are saying, I feel this is an odd topic to springboard into the realm of conspiracy and big-brotherisms.

I'm doubtful that any information in the Tesla reporting is intentional mis or disinformation.

"It's a conspiracy to get us all to drive really fast, reliable cars!"

I do think the gov is pushing us in that direction. I'm distrustful of government, but to be fair the government isn't too fond of Tesla (based on recent subsidy rules and presidential endorsements).

I know you weren't. Even if you were, be nice while telling me I'm stupid and I can accept it. I don't need to agree with everyone on every topic. I only hope that our disagreements can be productive and respectful sp that we can continue to have disagreements.

I read an article recently that explained that big oil is intentionally limiting production to help control the price. Their investors are demanding bigger returns.

I do not believe we will see gas get cheaper aside from the normal swings we always see.

That, and El Hefe telling the Oil Companies to pound sand cuz we don't need 'em anymore. Makes investing millions in to the refineries that need refurbishing look like a poor business decision if you are being told that oil is obsolete... Shut em down instead.

I reckon oil will not be cheaper because filling the SPR is going to cause an “emergency “.

the gov will try to install price caps and hamstring the energy companies
