He tried to pay for all the tires. This isn't his problem, and glad it happened during the week. Normally, we go out on the weekends and would have been totally screwed on the roadside until Monday morning.

I really enjoy that YT channel. Looks like I will need to check that recovery out. The Tundra is a solid and heavy truck.

We really appreciate all that you did for our group. Always ready to rally and help out. I wasn't joking about the beers and steak dinner.

To have a successful outcome, it has always blew my mind the support services needed to accomplish a goal.

Outstanding! Sounds like a heck of a trip that you’ll remember forever. Lots of issues along the way but adapt and overcome! Friendship and the satisfaction of helping out a friend when they need it most outweighs it all, most excellent

always on standby... and I seriously would have driven down to lend a hand if either rig was outfit for it. But Chebby is a fat ass with a 60' turning radius and Toy is still in old man mode with 6 ply tires and chrome tube steps so I wouldn't have been able to do much.

Over the years I've got to meet a lot of folks from various 4x4 groups up here and out of the 80-ish people that I've met and driven with there's only about 3 or 4 that I would have felt comfortable sending your way if it came to it.

Glad you all survived and hope you can come back another time to take to the trails in a more leisurely fashion....preferably with a couple of extra cans of gas too.

That's funny one time my brother had a cam bearing go out on his Harley Davidson in the middle of Missouri. The day before my daughter's birthday myself and my dad took off to get him and his bike. did I turn and burn trip so I could be back for my daughter's birthday party. Then I was turkey hunting one day and needed a ride 10 minutes from his house and he was to busy to come get me. Lol

That's one thing I love about these forums....we bicker and harass one another, talk about every topic under the sun, don't always see eye to eye, but when shit is serious and someone needs help there's bound to be another member willing to go out of their way to assist in a rescue. Yeah, Chris and his buddy know each other from outside of the forums but there's been plenty of members rescuing others in the past.

Every experience, good or bad we should take something from it, learn and do it better.

This is what I (we) as an off-road group has taken from this so far:

    - Stepping up a load rating or two on trailers. If the trailer requires an 8 ply, get 10 ply. I will be getting nothing less than 12 ply from now on. I can’t help if I become stranded and multiply the problem.

    - Most of the off-roading crew we hang with either has 6 lug 5200 lb axles or 8 lug 7-8k lb axles. We all have spares, but might be a good idea to double up on some spares. In reality, if you blow one tire, the other one right next to it will be out of service soon enough.

    - I am personally going mount a high lift jack to the trailer. I should have one reasonably close anyway. Using a bottle jack sucks.

    - I have spare LED lights, but didn’t have the rubber grommets or pigtails. Fixed that today for under 10.00.
    6A838168-DC04-45C0-A9C6-918183664D35.jpg

    - I carry spare wire, slices, heat shrink, etc. We also care a spare set of bearings and magnet.

I like it, thankfully I personally haven't used it. My friend has. It would work with 2 flats on the same side because the rim and flat would be high enough to change 1 then do the other one next.

There are these too - for single axles but I assume it would work for a double with two flats. Hook the small C shaped bit on the lower left on the axle then it lifts the trailer up as you drive forward. Kinda sketchy if you were to roll even a little bit while the tire was off though

    Awesome rescue!

I can relate to the trailer issues. I've had tires let go at speed and shred the fiberglass fenders on the boat trailer. For a jack I ended up getting a 3 ton hydraulic with a skid plate to slide under the frame. It is amazing how high speed traffic and adrenalin can make a Ricky Bobby grade tire changer out of ya!
