Definitely like what you are doing. With that many lights/amps/loads etc, a good knowledge of Ohm's Law comes in handy. I want to see what you come up with the 2 battery setup. Where is the best placement for the second bat? I looked under the hood and was trying to figure out where. I'm waiting for you to figure it out. (sorry) Definitely something I want to do. I know I'm not the only one waiting in anticipation.

Not sure if you've already been asked, but how long will the fridge run on the second battery with the truck off? Or is it meant to do that?

With some of my other builds, I just added stuff as I went. i have learned that ends of costing more in the end, because of how many times you have to add stuff over and change your mind. That's why I like to plan it all out in advance. You still change some stuff, but it ends up being the exception.

Definitely no room for a dual battery under the hood. I decided early on, to get a cap, so I am adding the dual to the bed, along with the controller, to keep them both charged . It will go along the fender wells and leave room for a Bedslide in the middle. My wiring runs will all come from the bed

    thank you sir !!

    Great Question
The Engel Refrigerator draws about 2.5 amps per hour. I have a Odyssey Pc 1500 that will keep it happy for a day or so. It's all about energy management . I have a trickle charger, that will charge almost 3 amps, hard wired, to the battery . Plus the Engel will automatically switch to AC power, when it gets plugged in. I have a 3 way tap with the ac cord and the battery charger hooked up. When I get home, I just plug it in, so the battery is maintained and the frig keeps running, so I always have cold drinks. The eventual plan is to have a solar panel, to keep it charged in the field, for much longer. Remember, its summer in the Phoenix area, so the frig will work harder. In the winter, the frig will stay going good fro 2-3 days without touching it. If you were camping, just starting your truck or doing trails will recharge it too
    thanks

I'm assuming your choice on Bedslide is the 2000? This is the only one that fully extends. I had the 1500, but sent it back. It only extended 3/4, which was only 3" past tailgate. Make sure your battery and mounts have enough room. I think slider is 46" wide.

Not sure what the Model number is, but this is what he sent me for how it will look.
I think the measurement was 48 wide, so it will tuck pretty close to the fender well. I am basing that on how I will build the battery control center and compressor mount . I will keep it over the fender well

Better choice than I made. This is their MAX Bedslide, rated for 2000lbs. This is the only one that fully extends. Being you have a cap, should work just fine as long as you can squeeze batteries in the corners. The route I originally chose with a bed cover didn't leave me with much vertical storage left, plus the lack of extension. Hope it suits all your needs.

Yes I could not have a Bedslide that did not open most of the way.

I have decided to scrap the Bussman fuse.relay panel for a suggested solution . I will be installing two Switch-Pros

Posting these mods always brings out the best suggestions from friends and experts. Keep that in mind while you decide on your path :)

Next order of business is rack is on its way, from Equipt .
Equipt | Roof Top Tents, Expedition Roof Racks, Dual Battery Systems, Portable Fridges
They have a specific rack that can be mounted to the camper shell, but only be a few inches tall. Then I do all the roof rack wiring and light installation

Next order of business is part of the on board air system http://rocksmasher.com/2wayair
It will be a blessing to fill or deflate the tires from one spot. It really has many advantages . I will be taking a road trip to work out the details of the system and will also be an authorized dealer . This will be vehicle specific too, so there won't be any guess work and an easy installation
Lots too do, so little time to do it :)

Equipt has some pretty cool stuff. Excellent site. What do you think of trying to fit a Kinetik small form factor battery under the hood to use for lighting?

Paul May at Equipt is a nice guy to deal with. He is knowledgeable and has lots of contacts too.

    To your question
I just don't see enough room for it. It really needs to be a pretty substantial battery, for the lighting I have. Even though I have 2 batteries now, I almost wish one of them was a big Odyssey2150. When I ordered batteries I was thinking of all the additional weight and decided against the big one. I hope I don't have to rethink that. My truck will probably be at events and showing the systems I have, so it can sit there with a battery drain, at times
    thanks

I was thinking maybe trying to fit a Kinetik in my engine compartment. They are fairly small. I'm only running a pair of 55W fogs, a pair of 100W spots, and a pair of 55W floods. I do have the 170 amp alternator. I may add a pair of cube LED's for side lighting at some point. Probably don't need the extra battery although there may be times I'll have the spots and floods on at the same time. May also add an inverter at some point too. I bookmarked Equipt. Lots of neat things there.

    The lighting begins...

    First set
    Baja Designs Squadron Pro's

    They are 42watt
    4300 lumens each
    3.6 amps each
They are set up in the wide cornering pattern
They look small, but pack a big punch, after the sun goes down.

    IMG_3110_zpsf4zs4r7i_a046d6ad1493770dde6882824aea47e568a841fa.jpg

I set these up as a direct replacement to the driving lights that were already on the stock bumper. I cut off the plug and added a Delphi connector to each side . I needed to do some fancy spacers to get them to sit in the middle of the holes, but that's what makes modifying fun :)

My first impression is, that I need to change my headlights out to match the color temp of the Squadrons, otherwise they look like candles. I will need to get 5000K .I did see a thread about LED replacement bulbs that are suppose to be 5000K replacements for headlight bulbs, but I need to investigate this further . It has to work right and cannot be cheesy.
When I get the Switch Pro's, I may rewire this, so I can turn them on anytime, instead of only with the low beams, but we will see .

Fedex drop off a few boxes today

National Luna Dual battery controller. Paul from Equipt, said it would be on it's way, day before yesterday. I guess he was right ! Along with this I order about $250 of wire products on Ebay , to do all of my wire runs. This translates into many hours in the garage, running, cutting, splicing, heat shrink, wire ties, etc .

The other box that arrived was the Eezi Awn rack components. http://www.equipt1.com/c/roof-racks
The rack will actually be here at the FED EX terminal tomorrow. It will be a rack that only attaches to the cap. Everything will be as far back as possible to leave the front of the Tundra roof clean. The idea is to keep it behind the sun roof. They actually have a special mounting system for the cap. Here is a link to the actual mounting system I will be using http://www.equipt1.com/item/k9-roof-rack-gutterless-rail-1600mm

The rack is at FED EX terminal for pick up. While I am picking that up, I need to go to another truck terminal to pick up my Expedition One Rear Bumper. Lots of running around to do before the weekend :)

I will be getting busy this weekend, since I have lots of stuff to do. Now that I actually have more parts, it will come together more quickly

Expedition One rear bumper. Tundra 2014 Bumpers | Expedition One
I cannot say enough about how this this is packaged up. It really takes the guess work on how to install it , plus whether it would be damaged in shipping. The top of the carton was messed up, but when I opened it up, everything was foamed and plastic to protect the entire bumper
    It seems really stout too
    IMG_0224_zpsvkoo48iu_3f113c9c84c526e59aaebfed63c75612323ef90b.jpg

    This also arrived today

This was also packaged well. It looks like a beast too. I am glad I got the synthetic rope. The top box is the wireless remote control

The rest of the roof rack was in and I drove to FED EX terminal to pick it up
I definitely have enough to do right now
Tomorrow morning I will be heading to GMG Fabrication, to finish installing and tweaking rack/battery box/lighting control/Extremeaire mount . Its almost there, but it needs some adjustments
I will get some pics after a few fit sessions

    Last but not least
When I dreamed up this project, I hired Tavis Highlander Graphic Designs to create a rendering . He is amazing and put my thought to print almost exactly how I envisioned it . If you plan on building a project, that you want to set your goals for, this is the way to do it.
I debated about posting a pic of the rendering, but since it's starting to take shape, I thought it would be fun to get impressions, of how it follows my thought . The blue highlights you see are actually the wrap I designed. It is suppose to be subtle. I want the build itself be the focus. The wrap is just suppose to be a hint of Arctic landscape

There are some lights missing on the bumper, but I will have him add that to the rendering and get the final artwork from him when its complete
Here is the rendering. I may or may not leave it up, but for now ...

Loving it. Wikid, do you know any outfit that makes a roof rack that will fit on top of a 07 DC? For the life of me I can't find anything and I am usually pretty good about researching.

    Thank you

    Yours doesn't have gutters correct?
You can do a rack system like I am doing Its a universal . you will have to mount the long strips through the roof and then a rack will fit on it. Means you will need to pull the headliner down, drill through silicone seal and a backing plate. it would be a tight install for sure
Here is a link to the rails http://www.equipt1.com/i/roof-racks/custom-roof-racks/rail

Maybe it's time to switch careers for me. :help: Need to try something else. (Like working with wood). 2 more years of Metrology Engineering (37 yrs so far) and I am going to definitely make a major change. ( semi retire). I'm (all of us here) are watching this pro build that you are doing. It's greatly appreciated that you are sharing this. Going to help a lot. You are covering so many different things in one project.

Yea. no gutters. Just checked the link. Certainly doable. Will take some effort. Something I really want do do. (backing plate thickness?) Maybe I should contact Equipt to get more info. Thanks.

Thank you. You can set goals and achieve them, if you don't mind working really hard . No lottery money for me. I am just determined to build it the way I want , then form a plan that works. We all started out hacking parts together. I prefer the research then apply method now. I want to try and spend my money once. It doesn't always work that way, but it helps to plan

Wood working is nice, but it gets to be work too . My wrists are tired of sanding and running a sprayer. I try to let my crews do most of the work now. Hopefully they can just keep it going and I will eventually get more time to do this stuff :)
