yep bank account is running low from it..
Unichip is all you need with piggy back to make it work. You just cant go over 10% corn in fuel, but I bet unichip is working on it. You do lose the e85 ability.

They do make great lights. I got the OnX6-50" Curved on my front bumper. I'll be really impressed if you can make that light fit and work. Seeing another mod, with a smaller light, it didn't appear to be a whole lot of room in there. What does your alternative hood bulge look like?

I just pulled the light out of the box. It looks like it will not work. There is a slight curve down and around on the bulge. I will have to re evaluate the fitment. I could fit individual 10" bars in there (maybe) then get 3 to fit, but I may have to do a grill install. I will have to take some time to figure this out .
Never know until you actually start fitting stuff , but I will come up with something

Bummer! Well, that nice light will probably be better utilized elsewhere. If you do a roof rack, maybe on the back of that? You seem to have a very good grasp for mod know how, so I'm sure it will find a good home.

I think I will avoid the roof. The light bars are pretty much over played on the roof and windshields, I want to do round lights on the roof that will be lowered out of the way, with an actuator. It just depends on time ,of course. I may have to send this one back and get shorter ones, to help make up the arc I am dealing with . I still think there are possibilities for the bulge, but maybe not one solid light

I read and heard that a lot lot of light bar windshield/roof mounts leave a lot to be desired too. Vibration issues bad enough to be annoying. Seems that grill/bumper or rack mounting is the way to go.

I had a discussion with Trent at Baja Designs. I am going to send the 40" back. (3) 10" bars, will be a better fit. I think the separation between the lights will actually look good, as long as I make everything nice and uniform.
I received (2) Odyssey Extreme 34R-PC 1500 T batteries, as part of a dual battery system. I really don't see enough room to run a dual battery system under the hood, so I may end up putting the second battery in the bed, as part of the cargo, storage system, I am planning to make . Then all the accessories , besides winches would be powered from there.
    http://www.odysseybatteries.com/batteries/pc1500rt.htm

I also received the extended flares from Bushhwacker. I just haven't decided if I am going to paint them or not. The other thought is if I decide on any type of wrap, will the paint be problematic for adhesion if I paint? Maybe someone could chime in on that .

I was surprised that tire shops were open today. I got them all mounted at test fit the front drivers side. As I thought there is at least plastic to trim . I will mount them all at home them begin chasing the rub

I have been working on bumpers for my truck for awhile. I have a Expedition One Front bumper, with no hoops, on the way. I really didn't want the hoops to take away from the grill area. I am going for a clean look, so this should work out well .
I hope to have it by Monday and installed by Tuesday

Leaving for Ouray Colorado on Wednesday for the FJ Cruisers Summit

Hey Don, have you done anything yet in adding your second battery? I was thinking on an idea to do something similar to what you might be doing, minus the solar part. I'd like to add a second battery, maybe a deep cell? if that's the best option? and a DC to AC inverter to use that second battery for power while camping. as an alternative to using a small generator. Use would be for a sleep apnea machine, maybe a tent fan, and charging portable devices. Maybe more devices in the future, so over sizing battery and inverter would be ok, maybe a 1000V inverter? Could you point me in the right direction as to maybe how I could do this. Would I need to upgrade alternator? Looking to place battery and invertor in truck bed.

The cap is the Z series http://www.4are.com/product/z/.
I got it pretty well loaded. It has keyless entry, bed rug, sliding dropping window, dual rope lighting and screens. I have about $ 2800.00 into the entire package. I know, I know others will post up that they got it for cheaper , but there is something to be said for also buying customer service from a really good place, so I was happy with it all

    As for the dual battery
You have a few hefty requirements. First thing I will say is that if you can get your c-pap machine that would run off 12 volt, you would be better off for a mobile set up. If you can't , you need to figure out what the power draw is for everything you plan to use then make your system do 30-40% more.

You will need a really good deep cycle battery. I would say get a odyssey 2150 or a Platinum pm-1. They are the same battery but rebadged. Sears will no longer offer that battery soon, so you would need to get it soon if you choose that route. The power inverter needs to be sized for what I said earlier . Either of these are sealed agm batteries with glass Matt construction since it will be mounted inside a closed bed

Dual battery controllers are all over the board and most do the same functions, but the more configurations you get the better. It's ice if you can isolate both batteries separately plus combine them manually being able to do this is a plus.

I have started the install on my truck. The tundra is awesome for getting the wires run. I was able to take the large cable, run it along the frame rail to the rear , slip up behind the cab to 1 rubber plug that goes into the bed. I removed the drivers side seat and the foam where there is a rubber plug on the floor and could run wires from the bed to the cab with ease. I will be redoing this after my trip to get larger wire in its place. I just got this faux ran for my trip. Then I will post pis of it all. It's going to be a tight set up that will be very functional and neat. I have 2 odyssey 34r 1500 batteries that have higher specs than the stock battery and able to mount in any position since they are sealed Agm glass Mat construction . Now I can actually start laying out the wiring runs to make it all central to the accessory battery along with the bushman 10 relay, 20 total circuit box I already have

More to follow as I make progress. This is about all I can type on a cell phone. May be some mistypes due to sausage style fingers
    Thanks

We did a trip to Ouray Colorado for the FJ Cruisers Summit. This is year 8 out of nine Summits we have been at . It is one of the best events we go to yearly.
I still have FJ Cruisers, but I took the Tundra for the event. It was my first chance to get her dirty on some trails. Even stock with 35's, did well on the trails I picked
Here are a few pics of the scenery

The back side of this picture is no joke. I was parked as far up that hill as possible . This was a loop trail called Last Dollar Rd . Nothing difficult, but really scenic

Same trail . This was about 10000 plus feet in elevation

We did a wildcat trail on one of our last days. This is Emerald Lake, on a loop road we did, up by Crested Butte Colorado

This is a the very Tundra that pulled the space shuttle. Before you all call me on the newer body style, they changed the skins

To wrap it up. Everyone should visit this slice of earth . It's spectacular. You will not be able to take it all in. This would be a great place to have a national Summit for Tundra's Just a thought

Spectacular views. I need to head up there one day. Tundra gathering and trail run would be awesome.

That is spectacular, beautiful pics... I will want to do that next year, or some trip to CO. My truck deserves it... well, so do I!

Are you liking your cap choice? Did you get you Engel Fridge hooked up yet?

    Thank you.

The cap choice is functional. I think the caps, with the opening windows on the side are more functional, but for my needs, it will work fine.
The Engel frig was hooked up and used for the trip. I used my frig straps to anchor it to the tie downs, on the passenger side. I actually used some thick corrugated, to keep a space behind the frig, so the door would open correctly. This was only temporary for the trip.
The way it will be anchored permanently, will be on a Bedslide . It will be hard mounted to the passenger side rear of the Bedslide (in an attempt to equalize the weight) . The spare tire, along with the aluminum floor jack will be mounted all the way forward on the Bedslide. It will be mounted on an angle, to take up less space. All that will require me fabricating the mount for the tire and jack . It will be as simple as pulling the Bedslide out to access the tire/jack
Along the bedslide, where the fenderwells are. Again on the passenger side, will be a dual battery mount. It will also have the 20 circuit/10 relay Bussmen. Where most of the accessories will be controlled from. It's a breeze, to do wiring runs from the cab, or front, to the bed, so this will be the perfect solution to make everything neat and organized.
I will run a group of trigger wires into the cab for a switch panel, for manual operation and have automated controls done another way it's all about redundancy .

First shipment of lights on their way
    All Baja Designs http://www.bajadesigns.com/
    (6) Pro S2's 2150 lumens each, that will be mounted on each side of the roof rack (flood pattern)
    (2) Squadron Pro's in (wide driving), for the front bumper 4.75 pockets
    (2) Squadron sport lights , (wide cornering) for the new Expedition One rear bumper pockets, (on order)
    (6) These will be rock lights. I may add a few more under, plus add something under the hood . Yet to be determined

After that the next round of lights will be shipped

Hood Scoop: Qty. (3) Amber 10" Stealth light bars. Two as Amber Wide Driving and one Amber Spot
Front Bumper: Qty. (3) XL auxiliary lights. Two Combo XL80's and one Spot XL Racer Edition, in the middle.
Rear Rack will be (1) S8 20" Amber Wide Driving
We are looking into a grill option, but that is yet to be determined

The next phase will be (6) XL racer editions for the roof, behind the sun roof Preferably on some sort of actuator . I believe these are listed at 9500 lumens each. With the correct combination of patterns, this will be almost total lighting coverage .

This will complete the lighting design. It was important to have the total configuration planned out, so all the wiring infrastructure could be ran at once. This will save sloppy add-ons in the future. Even if I change lighting configurations, the wiring could essentially stay the same. Eventually I will have a total lumen count, but whats more important is the lighting coverage. Working with Baja Designs and their expertise, will get to the goals I want to achieve .

    On another note :
My suspension install has been pushed back a bit. Total Chaos now has the shocks and springs. We are waiting on some stuff to be finalized, for the entire system. We are looking at end of August, or first week of September for entire install . It's always disappointing to have the stuff that's ready to install , but not be able to use it. But in the end, it will be a bad ass system .

I did a really crude sketch, of what I need to do, for the wiring set up. Using the wire gauge calculator, I think I am safe with what wires I will run. The total amps this will draw, if I were to have every light on at once, will be about 85 amps :) I do need to upgrade the main wire from the bussman. Currently it only has a main wire of that is 6 awg. I will upgrade it to (2) 6 awg, wires one off each leg instead of the jumper going from one lag to the other . The box can handle that power. Each leg should handle 60 amps, so total of 85 for lighting and about 15 or so for other accessories, it should be well within spec . This sketch actually gives me a really good picture of wire needed and how the runs will be . Having a plan saves lots of effort, time and money, in the long run
I did start to mock up a frame over the fenderwell to put the battery, Bussman and compressor . I think the tank will end up under the truck . Since there is probably lots of room under there, I may go with a 4 gallon tank .

To round out the picture , here is the Bussman I will be using. I will divide the heavy load from side to side. As you can see in the lower part of the picture, the legs are jumpered. This is where I will add a second wire with no jumper
