Good for you Law...very similar circumstances here with teaching my wife to shoot. Started her out on a learning on a Sig .22 mosquito a few years ago. She then got her concealed carry began practicing with and carrying a Ruger .38 LCR. Last summer she bumped up to a G43 and really loves to go shoot now. Now that she really understands sight alignment/sight picture, grip, trigger control I have her practice her instinctive/reactive defensive shooting skills at 5,7,15 yards. So glad she carries now.
She is also a deer hunter and a very good shot with a crossbow and long bow.

She never had any guns growing up and her only knowledge of them comes from what she hears on the news. This fall I bought a new shotgun a couple days before they came. My wife was talking about it when her mom was here and asked if she wanted to see it. My MIL said NO, those things scare me. Later that day I was walking through the living room with my bow and our Yorkie was barking at it (she barks at anything came) my MIL said it's ok Sadie, I don't like those things either. Ignorance can be a dangerous thing.

Being the smart ass I am I would've said "please don't tell the cops, this right here is an assault bow, these things are illegal in 49 states. You wouldn't believe what I had to go through to get this"
She's right though, ignorance can (and IS) a dangerous thing.
Ask her why the most recent school shooting hasn't been seen anywhere in the media. (I know why!!!!) LOL

Thanks Ron! That's exactly why I wanted her to learn! She thought I was trying to turn her into a gun nut, had to explain that wasn't the case, but a safety reason!
She said she feels more confident in everything even after one trip! Asked me not to post it on FB because she works with nothing but gun haters.
Met a few of them.....they don't like me at all which is perfectly fine with me LOL

LOL thanks! To be perfectly honest, I'm not a fan of them either, they're just a little more vocal about it than I am LOL i just smile at them and ask if they've seen the new *insert newest gun or tactical technology* or if they've seen Bambi walking around since I missed him on my last hunting trip LOL

The doc's opinion about me is the ONLY opinion I give a crap about LOL

Getting your woman to get into shooting is a good thing.
My wife has taken a couple classes and was going to the range by herself on tuesdays for a couple months then we got busy and she has not been in a while now and neither have I. But that will change this summer when our son goes to daycare all day long.
    Ah man...never enough time.

Nice to hear about women going and shooting. I don't understand the fear and dislike. I love going shooting and own a few guns myself.

Get your women out there guys! It's a freaking blast. I have a few friends who can out shoot their hubbies....lol

Mine is ok with weapons, at least enough to chew the hell out of 7-10 on a target with the AR.

    Red dot...check

    Loaded 30 rds....check

Pull trigger. Round 29 drop mag and reload.

    Good luck brother!!

Keep at least three magazines loaded and keep loading while your lady's shooting. If she's anything like mine, she'll want to stop after the first mag....don't let her.

Oh yeah.....don't yell BANG when she's aiming with an empty gun for a dry run......

What the hell am I saying? Do it! Whatever she says or doesn't give you that night....still worth it LOL

Amen. This is a funny story. I just picked up my 1911 and Brooke said "let's go break it in daddy..."

I was like "ok baby" in my best Forrest Gump voice.

After Dad banged out a few rounds, she got out of the Tundra, ear muffs, eye protection and commenced to shoot the BB gun. Lol. I finally convinced her that her gun was not quite as loud as Daddy's.

She was like "not to bad"

Atta boy @Law323! Me and my brother are still in the process of getting my mom comfortable with guns as well. She never shot one until around a year ago (which is kind of ridiculous given how me my brother and my dad all have CCW's) but has her concealed now and is getting better every time we take her shooting.

That's what I'm talking about!! Definitely surprising given she married and raised guys who apparently keep their barrels oiled!
My dad wasn't big on guns, all he had was a 10-20 and 12 gauge Belgium browning that his dad gave him and is now mine. As a result, my mom has never shot a gun before and will never shoot one....although she has shot a crossbow....so I guess that's something LOL

Joined a new awesome range and been going with wife 1 or 2 times a week and she works Her own lane. Her glock 42 kept malfunctioning a couple times every time out so I finally sent it back to glock...even happens to me so its not limp wristing . Got it back in 2015 and I hear they are replacing parts and magazines to fix the issues. She is going to be taking some more class too. I'm proud of her.

I've had issues with my Glock 23 with the slide not going all the way forward....annoying.
