I get it for some uses, but the down sides have been noted here in a number of threads.
    So why the 35 obsession?

Because it is the size of tire that starts to look like a bigger class of tire. You can tell from across the street when a truck has 35x12s

    I wouldn't know either. I like 40's.....

    Now to answer your question:

-Clearance and off-road performance. Looks pretty killer as well.

OP, I assume youre asking about 35 inch tire specifically since thats the size you wrote. Are you against oversize tires all together, or do you have a preferred size you think is best?

    This is true.

I remember when 33x12.5 on 15x10 wheels was cool.

No, nothing against 35's or larger tires at all. It really depends on your individual use case. Mainly a curiosity.

That, and thinking about what I will do when I have to replace the factory install tires when the time comes.

95% are mall crawlers. It’s because it looks cool. To do it right requires a lift, gears, wheels and tires.

The reason everyone has 35’s is because that’s what fits with very little work. If 37’s fit that easy, everyone would have 37’s.

I could definitely be fine and probably better off with small tires but I cant stand the look of the stock size tires, it just doesn't look right.

The bigger tire the better when ur off-roading But if u drive s street queen that doesn’t like to get scratched u go 20” rims on 35 so it looks cool.

OP, you should downsize and go with the smallest setup you can find. Maybe you'll start a new trend :anonymous:

35’s provide more ground clearance or any size bigger than stock, that is the only way to lift the diffs higher from the ground a “lift” kit won’t do that. Bigger tires put more pounds per square inch to the ground, increasing traction.
